Job Title: Senior Accountant Location: Weehawken, NJ Job Type: Full-Time (On-site, 5 days a week) Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 per year About Us: Located in the scenic waterfront area of Weehawken, NJ, our clients hotel offers a luxurious and memorable experience for guests in the heart of the city. Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This position will play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of the hotel and will provide an opportunity for growth in a dynamic hospitality environment. Position Overview: The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel, including month-end and year-end closing processes, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. This position will work closely with the Director of Finance and other departments to ensure accuracy, streamline accounting processes, and provide timely financial insights to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Director of Finance with month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare journal entries and accruals for the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance. Reconcile credit card receipts, bank accounts, and cash balances. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing. Streamline and improve accounting processes and controls, particularly around purchasing management and related functions. Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements. Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Monitor internal controls and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. Provide support for audits and regulatory reporting as needed. Collaborate with other hotel departments to provide financial insights and support operational needs. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required). 3-5 years of accounting experience, hotel is experience is required Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger processes. Experience with month-end and year-end closing, financial statement preparation, and reconciliations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with hotel management systems is a requirement). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
