Job Summary The Sr. Education and Development Representative will be responsible for assisting in the development of training programs for Operations including development of overall role-based programs incur incorporating adult- learning theory. Scope includes analyzing, designing, developing & delivering in-person or online training programs, and associated instructional materials. This role will primarily support the Bus and Subway Training Schools through the development of competency-based training programs that ensure employees are working safely and in accordance with up-to-date work practices. This role will be responsible for collaborating directly with operations teams to assess training revisions driven by changes in operational rules, procedures or equipment. Design and administer trainer development and continuous learning programs to enhance teams' ability to develop, understand and deliver blended learning programs. Duties & Responsibilities • Assess training needs, design, and develop training content and evaluate the effectiveness of training following standard methods for curriculum development. • Facilitate and collaborate with other departments and projects across the MBTA as needed to align training needs within operational training methodology and programs. • Create, and support others in creating, highly interactive, engaging effective new training content utilizing modem learning technologies (i.e., eLearning, adult learning best practices, blended learning) following ADDIE curriculum development methodologies. • Act as the subject matter expert in updating existing content as well as develop new content to address current and future organizational needs. • Work with key stakeholders across the organization to lead and track to completion a variety of learning and development projects. • Work with operations to assess training revision needs driven by changes to operations rules, procedures or equipment to ensure training materials are in compliance with operating standards. • Participate in the leadership and success of the department by advising other department managers to help set department training priorities. • Conduct meetings, discussion, and outreach to stake holders and subject matter experts to move training initiatives to completion. • Compile and report on the implementation and impact of training. • Set and maintain quality standards for all training initiatives to ensure consistency and effectiveness of training materials. Including but not limited to style, formatting, design, and organization. • Contribute skills and experience to fulfilling the values and mission of the Mass Dept. of Transportation/MBTA. • Stay current on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in an effort to continuously improve the MBTA employee learning experience. • Utilize multiple sources of data and information to plan and coordinate informed and date-driven improvements to course content and student experience. • Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor, or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the Authority's Customer service quality standard. • Uphold the rights and interest of the Authority while building and maintaining an effective relationship with employees. • Ensure the fair and consistent application and strict adherence to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the Authority including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies. • Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned Physical Demands and Working Conditions • The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Supervision • None Minimum Requirements & Qualifications • Six (6) years of experience in roles that directly focus on the technical/skills development of adult learners. • Five (5) years of experience designing & developing training programs. Experience must include experience with eLearning design and development. Experience in distance learning and/or video production highly desirable. • Experience developing training for technical roles preferred. • Demonstrated ability to create eLearning content using Adobe Captivate or equivalent industry standard design tool. • Comprehensive knowledge of instructional theories, principles, and practices related to technology-based learning (eLearning, distance learning and recorded video.) • Strong writing, editing and visual design skills. • Strong organizational skills: ability to accomplish multiple tasks through effective prioritization in a fast-paced environment and work with a high level of independence. • Ability to work with all levels of an organization and offer a high level of customer service & communication to properly focus training development. • Experience engaging subject matter experts to create effective training. • Experience with an organization level LMS (Learning Management System) including building and assigning roles and maintaining profiles. • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, including ability to present complex concepts clearly and effectively. Ability to effectively communicate in English including correct use of grammar, spelling, sentence structure, word meaning and punctuation. • Ability to effectively facilitate classroom and remote training delivery when necessary. • Excellent customer service and presentation skills. • The ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees, and vendors. • The ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce. • Adhere to rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the MBTA including the EEO, anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and anti-retaliation policies.
