Director - Software Engineer (The Prudential Insurance Company of America, Newark, NJ): Code, test and debug new and existing applications as implement capabilities to solve sophisticated business problems, deploy innovative products, services and experiences to delight our customers. Build applications ensuring that the code follows the latest coding practices, industry standards, and Prudential standards, using modern design patterns and architectural principles; remove complex technical impediments. Collaborate with product owners in understanding needs and defining feature stories, tech leads in defining technical design and other team members to understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions that bring about business impact. Write unit, integration tests and functional automation, researching problems discovered by quality assurance or product support, developing solutions to address the problems. Bring a deep understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, give technical direction to team members and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day. Work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables and may impact future concepts, products or technologies. Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week. Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days a week.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience. Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience in each of the following: •Utilizing programming languages: Python, Java, or Java Script; •Frameworks: React, Springboot, and Node.js; •Application Programming Interfaces (API): Consumption & Development; •Design and implementation of microservices/API architecture patterns using REST, JSON, HTTP, and TLS; •Unit, interface, performance and end user testing concepts and tooling (functional & non-functional); •Dev Ops Tools and Practices: Branching techniques and usage of GitHub, Bitbucket, Subversion, DevOps, Jenkins, and CI/CD; •AWS Core Services: Lambda, S3, or CloudWatch; and •Deploying applications to AWS, ECS, EC2, and EKS. Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days a week.
