Job Title: Jr. Project Accountant Job Description As a Jr. Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting project financial management. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers and various stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely project billing, revenue recognition, and financial reporting. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with a two-step interview process. Responsibilities Review and process project start-up requests, additional service requests, and change orders. Establish and maintain open communication about project finance with Project Managers and team. Coordinate and attend monthly project billing and financial health summary review meetings. Collaborate with Project Managers to process monthly project billing and record revenue recognition for complex projects. Provide special invoicing or additional documentation as needed, such as pay applications and lien waivers. Investigate project variances or discrepancies and provide determinations or notations to the Senior Financial Reporting Analyst. Provide special reporting as needed and build special rate tables in accordance with contracts or proposals. Support Project Managers with subconsultant invoice review, approval, and processing. Monitor and facilitate the pay-when-paid process. Collaborate with clients, subconsultants, Project Managers, and Accounts Receivable Specialists to resolve billing issues promptly and with a customer service approach. Complete project closures and reconcile balances. Upload contract-related supporting documentation to Deltek. Maintain organized project financial files. Mentor and provide training to other Project Accountants. Perform monthly project quality control. Work with cross-functional finance teams in executing project work. Remain a subject matter expert on project financial concepts and processes. Essential Skills 3-5+ years of accounting experience. 1-2+ years of project accounting experience. Experience in the A.E.C industry. Experience with project setup and client billing/invoicing. Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint ERP Accounting Software (strongly preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP. Associates degree or equivalent experience. Understanding of revenue recognition and progress payments. Knowledge of accounting principles and owner billings. Additional Skills & Qualifications 4-year degree in a relevant field (preferred but not required). Thorough understanding of GAAP principles. Significant experience with Deltek Vantagepoint. Experience utilizing the full Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, etc.). Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally. Solutions-oriented mindset. Integrity, promptness, forthrightness, trustworthiness, reliability, and a commitment to excellence.
