About the role. The AVP, Underwriting Practice Strategy role is responsible for leading key line of business underwriting initiatives to deliver value across the Field Underwriting organization. You will leverage operational and performance insights and partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Claims, Risk Management, Sales, etc.) to inform underwriting strategies, approach, guidelines, best practices, etc. Candidates should demonstrate comfort with leveraging data to identify root causes, building and executing on strategies to address business opportunities, leading through change, and influencing key stakeholders. This individual will lead initiatives that drive new business premium growth, create internal efficiency, reduce friction for the PURE membership, brokers, and staff, and increase employee engagement. Strong candidates will demonstrate prior success in a strategic, analytical, metrics-driven role. Candidates should be capable communicators with the ability to influence business outcomes through partnership and collaboration. This role reports to the SVP, Head of Underwriting Excellence, and will work closely with the Underwriting leadership team. Underwriting Excellence is responsible for the delivery of the strategies, tools, and processes to enable confident underwriting, profitable growth, and thoughtful book management. What you'll do. Lead key growth and profitability initiatives to improve Underwriting outcomes and enable thoughtful member solutions. Execute on target Underwriting and cross-functional priorities, ensuring portfolio alignment, and process solution definition, design, and implementation. Deliver insights and recommendations to shape strategic priorities and key initiatives, and bring about desired results, including operating in a strategic capacity to represent Field Underwriting on enterprise strategic initiatives. What we're looking for. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience. Exceptional strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail. Excellent communication, collaboration. and influence abilities. Strong project management skills and a proven ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Experience using software to extract, analyze, organize, and communicate data to support decision-making. Highest level of integrity and honesty. Confident, self-motivated, and self-directed. Eagerness to develop new skills and enhance expertise. Strong analytical capabilities with a curiosity for finding answers to questions. Proactive task and issue management, with the awareness of when to escalate issues as appropriate. The base salary for this role can range from $140K - $170K, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual's ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
