Job Title: Director of Operations Reports to: Deputy Director Effective Date: 1 November 2024 FLSA Classification: Exempt Location: On-site at 10 Hudson Street, does require travel to satellite properties. This is not a remote position. Job Summary: The Director of Operations oversees operations and outcomes of key Light House programmatic initiatives. The role is critical to providing cohesion across departments and satellite properties, to enhance the effectiveness of Light House support programs in serving vulnerable neighbors in Anne Arundel County and beyond. The DO is responsible for oversight of and effectively communicating to leadership all data and metric outcomes across department practices. The DO works in conjunction with the Director of Programs and Director of Community Outreach and Diversion, and the social enterprise (Light House Bistro restaurant and manufacturing), the strategic partnership team, the food service team and the facilities manager. The DO will monitor effective program success, growth, and optimization of resources. The Director of Operations reports to the Deputy Director. Direct Reports: Volunteer Programs Administrator, Executive Chef and the Director of Facilities. Outcomes Monitoring & Governance: Responsible for standardization policies, and data system usage. Train teams in proper data input requirements, effective usage, and monitor information is up to date. Direct program audits as required. Monitor annual metrics relative to historic Light House achievements and make recommendations on program delivery adjustments accordingly. Collaborate with Director of Programs and Director of Community Support & Diversion on impactful support to the needs of an ever shifting population. Report recommendations to leadership and the Board of Directors. Work with Deputy and Executive Director to develop and/or improve various operating policies and procedures to include: daily function of facility, business practices and licensure, internal communications processes, information flow and management and organizational planning. Responsible for developing and updating the Light House Operations manual as needed. Ensure that all Light House operations and functions serve the needs of its multiple and diverse stakeholders, while fully complying with all Federal, State and local applicable laws and regulations. Work with the Director of Finance and the Grants Team to report all expenditures on the operations side that are applicable to grants funding. Work Programs: Establish and maintain good community relations and have a keen awareness of community resources to support participants and programs. Engage with the community through public speaking engagements and or board or coalition membership. Initiate and contribute to program partnership development with other managers in local agencies to strengthen services. Serve as the primary liaison on behalf of the Light House, Inc. management and Social Enterprise LLC management. Strategic Partnerships: Supervise Volunteer Manager and Procurement Manager. Oversee build-out and retainment of sustainable volunteer assistance. Direct outreach of partnership opportunities; establish streamlined processes in regards to referrals and hosting of outside agencies to provide robust supportive services to Light House clientele. Operate as liaison to outside agencies and interest groups to advocate for Light House clientele and support measured program growth. Supervise growth of in-kind donation program to better serve clients and alleviate resource pressure. Facilities Management: Supervise facilities manager in oversight of Light House facility operations at 10 Hudson St., including shelter and residential facilities, administrative facilities, and exterior grounds. Oversee overall management of satellite Light House properties including, maintenance and repairs, resolving issues related to building and systems operations, and renovations. Monitor effective use of outside vendors/contractors. Provide oversight of Facilities Manager in RFP collection, bid review, securing contracts and management of vendors for administrative and facility services including phones, computers and computer network, copier and fax machines, property insurance, security, building maintenance and equipment and janitorial services. Serve as primary acquisition lead for securing properties and/or build-out of additional properties, with a focus on long term, adaptive usage based on community needs and program delivery. Supervise kitchen management, pantry operations and technology. Required Skills/Abilities: Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff to manage and develop high-performance teams and implement programs strategies. Experience in budgeting and fiscal management; understanding of restaurant operations a plus. Broad thinking and supportive of current diversity, equity, inclusion & accessibility trends and change management best practices. Ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders, cultures and community relationships. Decisive decision maker. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals. Capacity to manage multiple assignments. Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation. Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills and the confidence to debate ideas. Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible, and innovative approach to operational management. Mission-Driven, passionate, person of integrity, positive attitude, and self-directed. Education and Experience: Bachelors' degree in Business, Public Health, Organizational Development, or equivalent combination of training and work experience required. Masters' strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience and track record in senior management and staff development. Track record of effectively leading a direct service organization with a complex scope of programs and the ability to leverage strengths across program area; excellent project management skills.
