Scientific Application Developer Our client, a leader in drug discovery and development, is seeking a skilled R-Shiny application developer to join their Computational Toxicology Team within the Drug Safety Research and Development Department. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to building applications that analyze scientific data and drive decision-making / insights in drug discovery, helping to assess the potential safety risks of new drug candidates. Role Responsibilities: Build RShiny or other web-based applications based on requirements documents, wireframes, and/or prototype applications Contribute to internal R packages that support applications and analyses Document applications and R packages that support data solutions Maintain and optimize codebase to ensure and adhere to coding best practices Contribute, as needed, to projects that require data automation, predictive modeling, and/or natural language processing Required Skills & Experience: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as data science, statistics, or life sciences Proven experience in R programming and R Shiny application development. Proficiency in data visualization techniques and tools. Experience with SQL and relational databases Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong problemsolving skills, with the ability to proactively identify issues and find solutions Willingness to collaborate and support colleagues to achieve common goals. Maintains a positive, constructive, and easyto-work-with attitude. Preferred Skills & Experience: 12 years of pharmaceutical experience in a quantitative field. Knowledge of toxicology or bioinformatics is a plus Proficiency in R package development. Expertise in R code optimization and documentation Experience with RMarkdown/Quarto for dynamic report generation. Strong knowledge of SQL and APIs for data retrieval Some knowledge of web development technologies, including JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, especially in the context of R applications. Passion for UI/UX design to enhance user experience in applications. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts to gather requirements Interest in teaching and learning, with a passion for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. Knowledge of Spotfire or Python is a plus.
