Description As a Senior Naval Architect, you will be responsible for leading ship design and integration engineering projects, applying naval architecture principles, techniques, and criteria. This includes support for various phases of marine design, construction, and lifecycle management. You will work on a range of ship design phases, from conceptual design through detail design and post-delivery support, directly contributing to the advancement of ship design solutions. Location: The role prefers candidates local to the DC area for 1-2 days per week onsite at the USCG Headquarters, but fully remote option is a possibility for highly qualified candidates. Primary Responsibilities: Lead onsite naval architects at USCG HQ Apply naval architecture principles and techniques Develop ship design requirements Execute and lead trade studies Prepare technical reports and engineering documentation Interact with customers and stakeholders Coordinate project status reporting Basic Qualifications: BS or Advanced Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering Minimum 6 years of Naval Architecture experience Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance Competency in stability tests, speed, power, maneuvering, and seakeeping trials Knowledge of USN, USCG, IACS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineering License for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs
