Description We are seeking a Lead Civil Rights Paralegal to work on high profile cases in support of the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice in Washington, DC. The Lead Paralegal will work with Civil Rights Section Chiefs, lead attorneys, and opposing counsel. Responsibilities include attending dispositions, participating in meetings on settlement agreements, collaborating with DOJ experts, and reviewing contracts. The Lead Paralegal will play a vital role in case success and will be deeply involved in case strategy and support. In this role, you will gain valuable skills in time and task management, critical thinking, effective communication, and leveraging legal research tools such as Relativity, Case Map, Text Map, and TrialDirector. Primary Responsibilities: Work under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal Conduct moderately complex legal research Review case materials and identify areas requiring further investigation Prepare initial drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence Communication with other staff and trial teams Please Note: This is an on-site position with some telework allowed. Approximately 10% US travel is required to support trials. Basic Qualifications: Paralegal certificate required Minimum two years of litigation paralegal experience Minimum two years of experience in automated litigation support In-depth experience with Relativity or equivalent tools Sound knowledge of federal and state court system and legal research procedures Excellent written and oral communication skills Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications Familiarity with ESI tools and e-discovery procedures Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust Desired Qualifications: Trial experience and proficiency in speaking and reading Spanish are considered advantageous This position is covered under the Service Contract Act Original Posting Date: Pay Range: The pay range for this job level is a general guideline and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary
