QC Department Manager Job Num: 55733 h5 Job Description Position: QC Department Manager - Central Kitchen Industry: Retail Location: Gardena, CA Status: Full-time, Exempt Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000/year (DOE) The Quality Control Department Manager is responsible for the quality, food safety and aesthetics of the product. The QC Manager follows through on set processes and ensures adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and product quality standards. This is not a supervisory position. Oversees, Manages and Ensures: Ensures that food products meet standards set by both their companies and regulatory authorities. Ensures employees are following all Food Safety Responsible for periodic monitoring and product food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process Review periodic monitoring/inspection with store managers and department leaders and provide training Create checklists for Department Leaders/QC persons at stores Train and monitor Department Leaders/QC person's inspections and checklists in each store Report to president issues and progress found during periodic inspections and store QC person's reports Create emergency plan for power outage, sewage backup, no fresh water Assist in finding equipment, fixes, products to improve smooth operations and health department regulations Attend health department seminars Set up and coordinate services from third party auditor (food safety) Set up and maintain contract and services with pest control company Check government recalls and communicate with Department Managers/Assistant Managers Compliance: That all employees are following the Dress Code Policy Responsible for the correct recording and filing of all relevant record logs and Documentation Ensures employees are following all Food Safety That all Store Managers and Department Leaders are trained and kept informed of department policies and procedures including the Company Corporation Standards Perform inspections on Products, Equipment and Machinery Sets policies for product selling process by corresponding with main buyers Operations: Contributes to the improvement of store processes by increasing efficiency and providing more cost-effective methods for store operations Assists in the research and development of resources that create timely and efficient store workflow Writes operations manual to include day-to-day procedures to be followed by departments Knows and understands all store employees' job responsibilities Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Executive Management Maintains high ethical standards in the workplace Reports all irregular issues and problems to Executive Management for solutions. Greets and interacts with customers in a courteous and professional manner Helps solve problems that affect the store's efficiency, service and productivity Provides excellent customer service and satisfaction by being constantly visible and readily accessible to our customers Assists Store Associates with guidance, assistance and information Customer Service: Greets and interacts with customers in a courteous and professional manner Helps solve problems that affect the store's efficiency, service and productivity Provides excellent customer service and satisfaction by being constantly visible and readily accessible to our customers Assists Store Associates with guidance, assistance and information Leadership: •Exhibits excellent Customer Service Maintains high ethical standards in the work place Personnel Management: •Interviews and selects candidates considered for employment for their department •Performs Corrective Actions as needed following established policies •Approves department staff schedule Reviews immediate subordinates' timesheets for accuracy of hours, overtime, PSL, Holiday, PTO requests Conducts Formal Complaint Investigations of employee issues with assistance from Human Resources Prepares Performance Evaluations and counseling notices as required for direct reports Maintains confidential discussions of employees' raises, promotions or transfers until approved by executive management and paperwork has been prepared and meeting is scheduled with employee. Training: •Ensures and educates employees on food safety and Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards •Implements training and awareness programs to ensure employees are up to date with quality systems and requirements Cross Training: As a member of the company, s/he exemplifies teamwork and is open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities and is willing to be trained and step in when needed. In addition, will assist Area Managers as needed. Safety, Loss Prevention and Procedural Compliance: Follows Company guidelines for managing confidential information, customer satisfaction and supervising store personnel Follow safety practices such as: washing hands, using a pair of gloves, wearing a clean uniform per shift, no jewelry to be worn at any time, wear hair covering, trim and clean fingernails often Maintains store SDS, IIPP and OSHA records Enforces compliance with all local, state, federal regulations and company policy pertaining to safety and loss prevention Complies with all Health Compliance and Food Regulations Complies with all OSHA requirements Complies with California PROP 65 regulations Qualification The required qualifications are as follows: You must be 18 or older to sell alcohol, use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment Must be able to use job related equipment such as knives, wrappers, scales, compactors, garbage disposals, hand trucks and pallet jack Self-motivated with proven leadership skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service Possess or willing to obtain a forklift operating license Possess or willing to obtain a food handling certificate "Certified Food Safety Manager "or willing to attend company paid training and that the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of Problem solving and decision-making abilities. Writing and oral communication skills for reporting, researching, customer contact and supervisory responsibilities. Must be able to work independently, plan, organize and prioritize responsibilities. Understanding of personnel and safety standards. Excellent mathematical, analytical and interpersonal communication skills. The ability to learn and instruct others in detailed procedures.
