Drives a variety of company vehicles, including passenger vehicles, box trucks, and buscoach. Drives company vehicles over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules and needs. Responsible for the safe transportation of blood products, supplies, staff and equipment to and from mobile sites. Loads and unloads orders, materials, supplies and equipment at different sites and interacts with internal and external customers. Performs mobile site set-up and break-down. Complies with traffic regulations and operates vehicles in a safe and courteous manner. Accountable for the daily cleaning of mobile vehicles as well. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Loads a variety of company vehicles in a safe manner, ensuring cargo is evenly distributed, secured and stored for transportation. * Performs multiple mobile break downs and returns including unloading supplies, materials, equipment and ice chests in the proper areas and in an orderly manner. * Performs mobile cart set-up and break-down as needed. * Packs and transports blood products from mobile sites to center. * Properly handles and disposes of medical waste according to standard operating procedures. * Properly conducts daily QC duties including set-up, documentation, reporting and cleaning. * Properly performs heat sealer maintenance according to standard operating procedures. * Accurately completes bloodmobile observation sheets according to standards. * Unpacks items to be stocked in mobile staging areas. Stores items in an orderly and accessible manner. * Coordinates, organizes and stages equipment and supplies for blood drives on schedule. * Provides support for all mobiles, i.e. pulling supplies, restocking cartstrays, quality control and cleaning of specified equipment, and organization of equipment and supplies for each mobile. * Maintains supplies and work area in a neat and orderly manner. * Maintains supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in accordance with internal standards, safety and FDA regulations. * Performs vehicle inspections prior to departure according to standard operating procedures. Reports any vehicle damage, malfunctions or needed repairs to management and takes vehicle out of service as directed. * Performs canteen function on mobile drives as needed including set-upclean-up, interactions with donors, handling donor reactions and maintenance. * Drives vehicles to and from maintenance appointments as directed by management or designee. * May drive out replacement vehicles in the case of vehicle breakdown or accident. * May drive out donor operations staff (as needed), materials, supplies or equipment to mobile sites as directed by management. * Cleans and disinfects coolers, blue ice, and separators used for product transportation per standards. * Assists in the development of a mobile site set-up manual including inventory of all equipmentsupplies verification. * Restocks and cleans mobile busestrucks after mobiles return. * May perform multiple mobile set ups and break downs in same day. * Communicates appropriately with Chairperson andor others at blood drive locations regarding placement of LifeStream vehicles and equipment. * Performs mobile site checks as required. * Inspects parking lot to ensure all company vehicles are parked in their proper places. * Restocks mobile carts for equipment, supplies, and materials. * Performs routine and quarterly inspections of coolers and supplies and identifies those that need to be retired and properly labels and removes from inventory. Brings them to attention of management. * Conductions monthly inspections of all company vehicles for damage, needed vehicle maintenance and missing paperwork. * Performs other duties as assigned. NATURE AND EXTENT OF SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO THE POSITION: The supervisor makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines, assisting the employee with unusual situations with no clear precedents. Employee plans and executes steps to complete the assignment, following instructions, policies, and previous training or accepted practices. Completed work is evaluated for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy. Methods used by the employee are not reviewed in detail. Occasionally, the supervisor sets overall objectives and resources available, with deadlines and work plans developed in consultation with the employee, with some opportunity for the employee to interpret policy, or determine approaches and methodology for accomplishing assignments. Qualifications QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, each essential duty (as identified above) must be performed satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, andor ability required. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES * Knowledge of infection control and blood transport procedures. * Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance (e.g. check the oil, lights, horn, wipers, etc.). * Knowledge of general safety procedures (e.g. proper lifting technique). * Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills (e.g. smiles, written and verbal communications). * Must practice safe driving skills. * Basic math skills (related to tracking unit tallies, etc.) * Able to work with blood. * Ability to maintain accurate and complete records, and to resolve discrepancies in those records. * Knowledge of FDA Regulations on component processing, component storage, packaging, and transportation. * Ability to embrace change in a positive manner. * Basic computer skills for retrieving and answering e-mail or performing annual competency tests. * Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle multiple tasks. * Ability to operate simple office equipment. * Ability to follow directions and standard operating procedures. * Ability to work independently and remain productive as well as in a team environment and participate as an active team member. * Ability to work flexible shifts and travel as required. * Ability to lift 40 pounds. EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED. EXPERIENCE 1 year of experience in material handling and driving preferred, however candidates with a minimum of 90 days of employment with the organization that have completed their CDL certificationtraining meet the minimum experience required. Experience in loadingunloading preferred. 1 year of customer service preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, ETC. Valid Driver's License. Commercial License required with Air Brake endorsement.
