Click for a complete list of Employee Benefits.Description:Safely operate University of Illinois Chicago motor vehicles in and around the Chicago Metropolitan area, or as dispatched. Position reports directly to the Automotive Sub-Foreman andor Automotive Foreman.Duties & Responsibilities:Drive University of Illinois Chicago automobiles, buses, vans, trucks, andor tractor trailers to transport personnel, refuse, materials, mail andor freight.Maintain contact with Dispatch Office via radio andor telephone, informing office of all changes in location, delays, traffic problems and emergencies.Operate snow removal equipment when required.Load, haul and deliver supplies, equipment, mail, freight, materials, express packages andor passengers.Check vehicle for minor repairs which may be needed, including tire inflation, fuel, oil and water levels, belts and hoses, missing safety equipment and complete a vehicle repair order when repairs are needed. May perform minor repairs on vehicles as needed. Keep interior of all vehicles assigned clean and debris free on a daily basis.Maintain accurate records of material and personnel transported per assignment. Completes various trip sheets, logs, and work orders for each assigned task.May assist in Motor Pool radio Dispatch Office and may assist Grounds Workers with tasks involving vehicles with mounted equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications Required:High school diploma or equivalent.Validcurrent driver's license as required by the State of Illinois and a CDL class B license or higher, in accordance with the size of the vehicle to be operated by the incumbent.Six (6) months of work experience as a route or commercial delivery driver or closely related experience to the given position.Preferred Qualifications:Must possess a valid 'Class A' commercial driver's license with air brakes and passenger endorsements.NOTE: All necessary CDL endorsements are based on the vehicle to be operated and when required to operate vehicles capable of transporting 16 or more persons as required by the Illinois Secretary of State.To Apply: For fullest consideration click on the Apply Now button, please fully complete all sections of the onlineapplication including adding your full work history with specific details ofyour duties & responsibilities for each position held.
