We are happy to announce that the City of Fayetteville is recruiting for CDL Driver Trainees to become part of our City's FAST team! NO PRIOR COMMERCIAL DRIVING EXPERINCE IS REQUIRED. The City (FAST) has partnered with Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) to offer a training program for individuals with NO prior commercial passenger transportation driving experience, and who do NOT possess a commercial driver's license. We are currently accepting applications for a class scheduled to start January 14, 2025. About the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Program: Trainees will be employed by the City during the training period. You must complete and pass the class to continue employment with the City. The training program at FTCC is a 5-week200 hour program. Documents required prior to class registration: * DOT Physical * Class B CDL Permit * Driving History Record The good news.....the City (FAST) will pay the Trainee's FTCC course fees and related CDL license fees noted below. TuitionFees: $572.25 (subject to change) * TuitionFee - $230.00 * DOT Long Form Physical & Drug Screen - $125.00 (payable at Fayetteville DOT Exams) * CDL Class B Permit - $77.00 (Payable at DMV) * Unofficial Driving History - $12.75 (Payable at DMV) * CDL Class B Licenses - $127.50 (Payable at DMV at the conclusion of class) For detailed information about FTCC's CDL training program, please contact FTCC CDL Driving Instructor Eric Smith at (910) 486-3909 or . Salary Information: * A trainee starts at $17.50hour while completing the 5 Week200-hour FTCC program. * Upon completion of the FTCC training and obtaining a valid Class B driver's license with passenger endorsement, the candidates will advance to $18.90hour and begin FAST's training to become familiar with FAST policies, procedures and bus routes. * The Trainee will be required to sign an agreement for a 24 month (2 years) of employment commitment with the City (FAST). About the Position: As a FAST Transit Operator, you must be attentive, have good judgment, be professional, have safe driving habits and most importantly have the ability to provide great customer service. As a Transit Operator, your responsibilities include: * Safety - the safe operation of your bus and the well-being of your passengers; * Customer Service - responding to customer inquiries concerning transit information, providing a comfortable rides and collection of proper fares; * Schedule Adherence - providing reliable and consistent bus route service according to publicly advertised schedules * Our mission at FAST is to provide safe, efficient, reliable, courteous and innovative public transportation to the citizens of Fayetteville. The Transit department provides bus services, 7 days a week. LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS: Required: A current DOT Medical Card; North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License with an endorsement for air brakes and a passenger endorsement within 60 days of FTCC Training completion, and ability to maintain insurability. Preferred: First Aid certification; CPR certification. From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment DOT drug screen, DOT physical, background check, and a driving history check.
