Construction Estimator

If you are looking for a position with a stable, successful company, we are seeking an Estimator familiar with commercial multi-family, mixed-use & retail projects ranging in size from $5 to $75 million.As a member of the KBS estimating team, your duties include:Review & incorporate historical data from subcontracts, purchase orders, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and labor hour estimatesPerform detailed quantity and labor takeoffs. Prepare estimates, including schedules, for use in selecting vendorssubcontractorsReview proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to determine scope, duration and cost of work, keeping in mind how the project will likely be constructed.Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to bids or projects assignedMaintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures. Interface with clients, architects, engineers and subcontractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibilityFollow awarded contracts as assigned - may include estimating extra work items, change orders, procuring material, etc.Cultivate relationships with competent, reliable subcontractors and vendors to assist with competitive pricingSkills and AbilitiesExcellent oral and written communication skills necessaryKnowledge of multiple construction disciplines is requiredAbility to readinterpret blueprints and construction documents Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost controlAbility to interpret computerized cost data and systems is essentialAbility to solve practical problems and manage variety of situations where limited standardization existsAdvanced proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel and Project; Sage Timberline Estimating andor Job Cost modules; Planswift; Smartbidnet; Adobe Acrobat andor BluebeamRequired Experience and Education We welcome candidates with a combination of education and relevant experience. While a degree in construction management or engineering is beneficial, equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
