Job Title: Cell Therapy Technologist Level II or Level IIILength 6month CTHLocation: Baltimore, MDPosition Summary:Responsibilities include the performance of highly technical and complex cellular and immunotherapeutic procedures. Additionally, this position requires significant experience to assist the Cell Therapy Laboratory Technologist II and III. These include, but are not limited to cell separation, cryopreservation, quantification, and characterization of products for bone marrow transplant or other immunotherapeutic procedures for clinical use. Products may include white blood cells, bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cells as well as other biological components. Serves as a resource to coworkers and others in field on aspects of cellular separation and processing characteristics and procedures.Education: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or other biological science.Knowledge:High-level knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures and instrumentation, especially for hematological assays and cell component processing.Familiarity with cryopreservation techniques and specialized equipment for such procedures.Knowledge of immunotherapy and scientific principles.Skills:Ability to use a wide variety of analytical techniques and instrumentation.Skill in interpreting results and resolving complex technical problems.Attention to detail and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff and physicians.Adherence to good sterile technique practices.Ability to identify deficiencies in procedures, a skill gained through specialized experience in the field.Leadership skills to direct others when designated.Required LicensureCertification: MLS(ASCP)CM, MT(ASCP), or BB(ASCP) is preferred.Work Experience:Requires 2-5 years of previous laboratory experience with progressively increasing responsibility in a clinical or research setting.Specific experience in cell processing and cryopreservation is preferred.Machines, Tools, Equipment:Familiarity with the operation and performance of basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, microscopes, cell selection devices, incubators, cell counters, hemapheresis machines, cell washers, liquid nitrogen storage devices, and programmable freezers.Shift: M-F 8am-4:30pm
