DB2 Systems Administrator

Job Description- Role Responsibilities:This position will be focused primarily on the Mainframe zOS platform. Demonstrated experience as Database Administrator in DB2 on zOS 2.4 or higher, and DB2 zOS V12. Working experience with mainframe DBA tools from BroadcomCA required- includingRCMergerRCQueryRCMigratorDetectorSubsystem Analyzer Strong knowledge of SQL and performance tuning.Participation in 24x7x365 oncall rotation required.Also tools from Rocket Software including ASG-TMONMVS, TMONDB2, IBM - DataStudio are Preferable.Preferred:Certification as Database Administrator in DB2 zOS at V11 through current. Summary:The main function of a Database Administrator is to provide database support on a variety of hardware and software platforms and peripherals. Job Responsibilities:Provide database and system on-site support of the IBM DB2 mainframe zOS environmentsSupport numerous IBM application environments & teams leveraging DB2 zOS databasesMonitor, collect statistical information, and provide reporting on capacity and system performanceBased on statistics, make recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performanceMonitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alertsPerform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, os, and database issues (ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems)Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patchingPlan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patchingPerform and manage system and database backupsPerform manual switch to redundant system database components, in case of system failuresParticipate fully in 24x7x365 oncall rotations for production support Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required6+ years experience required including use of all IBM Utilities and Commands in an administration and architecture roleExperience in providing technical support, covering database administration and operations to include monitoring maintenance capacity, performance monitoringplanning and incidentproblem troubleshooting and resolutionStrong knowledge of SQL and tuningKnowledge of IBM Data Studio, BroadcomCA database administration tools, TMON monitoringUnderstanding of Help Desk tools and trouble ticket tracking processesUnderstanding of support agreements and their implied service levelsProven ability to write excellent technical documentationExcellent written and verbal skillsAbility to express complex technical concepts effectivelyAbility to work well with people partnering and collaborating on solutions from many difference disciplines.Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experienceAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to mentor othersAction and results orientedAbility to exercise good judgement while under stressKnowledge of mainframe database products including CA DB2 tools, TMON monitoring, Data Studio is preferred.Desired Skills and ExperienceJob Description-Role Responsibilities:This position will be focused primarily on the Mainframe zOS platform.
