Must Haves:5+ years recent truss design experienceDesign work in MiTek SapphireStructure with current or most recent role(s)Strong Experience with custom residential home design Plusses:Technical degree or higherMiTek truss designer with component or product design experienceExperience with California design work (California Hips)Multifamily design experienceDay to day:A national building supply company is seeking an experienced Truss Designer for their regional team out of Oregon. List of responsibilities will include:Team operates as Regional Design team for the Pacific Northwestern USPrepares complicated truss design and layout drawings - layout drawings may include beams and metal connectors sized and supplied by the companyDevelops layout and design drawings from architectural drawings or sketches provided to the companyMakes phone calls to building designers or professionals to obtain or clarify information shownDraws rough sketches or arranges for finished drawings or photographs to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequencePrepare truss repair drawings for review and approval by a professional engineerWrites technical descriptions specifying material qualities and propertiesReviews and checks layout and design drawings prepared by less experienced truss technicians and assists in making modifications prior to releaseMay obtain information pertaining to products that have been field modified or damaged - information is summarized and given to a professional engineer to evaluate and complete repair drawings when requiredAnalyzes technical data and reports to determine if design meets specificationsUnderstands the building code and applies knowledge of special truss industry issuesAnalyzes plans and diagrams, or observes and makes notes on material processing, to determine material processing specifications or specifications for construction activities
