Weld Engineer- Up to $5K Sign-On & Relocation Available for Select Candidates We are looking for a Weld Engineer to join our EMD team! This role determines appropriate required welding techniques and procedures for all welding applications and/or qualifications. Generates weld procedure and welder qualification records. Interacts/participates in administrative and production meetings to support engineering/ manufacturing and program management. Works effectively in a manufacturing environment where arc welding (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW, PTAW) processes are used to produce x-ray quality structural and seal welds. Has a working knowledge of welding metallurgy. Able to use and interpret material specifications. Proactively seek and accept responsibility for solving new and difficult welding engineering challenges, while appropriately assessing and managing risks. Effectively communicate technical concepts across all levels of EMD and customer organizations via both verbal and written communication Provide technical support and directions to a skilled labor force and to Weld Development Lab Technicians in support of materials, joining, testing and evaluation. Plan, support and execute procedure and personnel qualifications in accordance with the applicable welding code and contract requirements. Identify new and/or improved welding processes/techniques for improving EMD applications. Work with design and manufacturing engineering to resolve materials joining issues before and during manufacturing and provide technical support to suppliers and customers. Review supplier qualifications and procedures and provide support for audits of suppliers. Develop and manage materials joining work plans including schedules, budgets, and resource requirements to meet both EMD and project objectives. Mentor other engineers in area of expertise and assist with training and evaluation of less senior personnel. What You Bring: B.S. Degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Metallurgy, or Materials Science from an accredited institution (M.S. preferred). A minimum of 6 years of related experience is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered. Extensive knowledge of arc welding processes (FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, SMAW, and PTAW). Knowledge and experience with at least one of the following welding codes (ASME Section III & IX, AWS, and NAVSEA) Experience in working with carbon, low, high alloy and stainless steels, nickel, and copper-based alloys, as well as dissimilar metal welding. Prior experience as a welding, materials, or manufacturing engineer. Effective composition, documentation, and communication skills. Must be a team player, an innovative thinker and have a demonstrated commitment to quality and customer service. Must be US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
