Job Details Compensation: Towne Park is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location. The hourly base pay range for this position is $17.50-$18.50 per hour ($17.50hr Monday-Friday and $18.50hr SaturdaySunday). Work Schedule: The work schedule for this position is Open Availability. SUMMARY The Lead Patient Transporter is a non-clinical, non-certified associate responsible for providing exceptional hospitality services in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner to all patients during their entire stay. The Lead Patient Transporter is also responsible for the transport of non-monitored patients within the hospital environment by wheelchair, stretcher or bed. Must be trained by hospital licensed staff andor equipment vendor provider, and able to support clinical staff personnel with the use of approved Patient Lift Equipment, in accordance with the hospital's policies for employee and patient safety. Descriptive Statement(s) - % of Time * Provides training and orientation for all new and existing staff members pertaining, but not limited, to the use and management of transport equipment, patient safety protocols, body mechanics, and customer service behaviors. Assists in ensuring transport staff are in compliance with all hospital and departmental proficiency training requirements per hospital defined protocols, including the performance of Towne Health's Transport Service Excellence Audits on other transport staff, as assigned by the manager.-20% * Coordinates activities of other Transport personnel within patient care and ancillary support areas of the hospital, and reports any problems to the manager. Has a complete understanding of the current Service Level Agreements with Nursing and Diagnostic Imaging groups. Has a complete understanding of the current Service Level Agreements with Nursing and Diagnostic Imaging groups.-15% * Follows the hospital's lock-out tag-out protocol for all broken equipment and arranges for all needed repairs on wheelchairs and stretchers, ensuring accurate records for all Transport equipment in and out of service. Monitors available Transport Management software, and maintains the competencies of a Transport Dispatch Coordinator, in order to upgrade trip priorities, approve trip cancellations, andor temporarily re-assign themselves, or other staff, to a specific "zone", based on fluctuating demands.-15% * Maintains a friendly and professional demeanor with all patients, family members, hospital staff and co-workers. Acknowledges and greets patients within 30 seconds while maintaining a professional and pleasant demeanor. Uses patient last name at all times when appropriate, and never refers to a patient by their Room #. Explains all transport related procedures to the patient prior to beginning the transport, including intended destination. Collects transport equipment and returns it to the appropriate storage area. Ensures patient comfort, safety and privacy at all times.-30% * Communicates patient needs to clinical staff upon arrival to the designated area. Communicates patient arrival andor departure to appropriate clinical staff. Must perform a physical hand-over with receiving clinical staff. Confirms the minimum # of patient identifiers in accordance with written standards, before transporting a patient.-10% * Ensures that patients are not left unattended at any time prior to the hand-over process with the receiving clinical staff. Transports and secures medical charts when conducting patient transports. Utilizes proper safe patient handling techniques. Escorts visitors as needed between departments; provide way finding services as needed. Demonstrates proper use of the patient transport tracking systemlog sheets as defined by the manager. Provides oxygen tanks filled to the defined minimum capacity, secured to transport equipment, as requested. Is familiar with hospital emergency codes and procedures in accordance with Joint Commission standards.-10% The total amount of time for all functions of the job - 100% QUALIFICATIONS Education: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience andor training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Licensure, Certification, etc.: * Must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a criminal background, MVR and drug screen. * Must complete the Wheelchair Safety Training course provided by Towne Park. * Must complete HIPAA Training provided by Towne Park and, if required, by the hospital. Work Experience: * Minimum of 6 months of Internal Patient Transport experience required. * Basic job related computer experience required. * Customer service experience required. Knowledge: * Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. * Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people. Skills: * Must be able to read and write Standard English language. * Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. * Must be able to write simple correspondence. * Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients and other employees of the organization. * Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units of time, American money, weight and volume measurement (including the metric system when appropriate). * Must be able to understand 24 hour and military time systems. SCOPE Authority to Act: * Job is fairly routine. Incumbent follows established practices and procedures. Duties are performed with specific directions given and work is checked or verified on a frequent basis. Decisions are made within specific operational instructions and departmental guidelines. Errors in judgment could affect the smooth and efficient operation of the department. Budget Responsibility: * The employee has control over resources available only.
