Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionSummaryThe DriverMaterial Handler is responsible for safely loading and unloading company trucks and trailers with production parts and product and transporting to vendors or additional facilities. When not driving, they are responsible for keeping production areas supplied with required parts.Must comply and pass DOT pre-requisite testing.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.Safely operates all company-owned vehicles and rented equipment to move parts, finished goods and equipment to vendors and other facilities. Secure loads to comply with all DOT requirements and ensure safe transit of goods and product while enroute.Responsible for organization and safety of product stored outside of facility using forklift and material handling equipment as required. Assists in distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product for final distribution.Contributes to the orderly operation of stock andor materials storage area.Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.Maintains logs of deliveries and pickups for accurate inventory and work-in-process accounting. Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs.Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items, or signals machine operators to move materials onto and off trucks, ships, and loading docks.Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean.Open containers, sort, and catalog materials.Learns and adheres to workplace safety regulations.RequirementsQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must frequently lift 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee will frequently stand or walk, occasionally talk and listen, and move from place to place. Heshe will frequently use hands to handle or touch. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics for this position are in an industrial setting where all policies regarding safety have to be followed. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
