Company: Compassus POSITION SUMMARY: The Hospice Aide is responsible for modeling the 3 Company values of Compassion, Integrity, and Excellence, and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of success as the foundation. She is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the Company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Hospice Aide will provide personal care, supportive services, education, and light household duties in a plan of care developed by the RNCM. The aide will communicate changes to the Registered Nurse Case Manager and complete documentation to reflect assigned duties set by the Registered Nurse Case Manager. The Hospice Aide will utilize the IDT team to assist in this process. She is responsible for applying the rules and regulations of state and federal regulatory agencies and other certified agencies. Position-specific Responsibilities * Follows specific cleaning and service instructions as outlined by the Hospice Director of Clinical Services. * Assists with personal care including: Tub, shower, whirlpool or bed bath, shampoo, dry, style hair, nail and skin care, assists with oral hygiene, toileting and elimination with safe transfer technique and ambulation. * Takes vital signs as directed by RN case manager * Checks stock and notifies supervisor of supply needs. * Gives an assigned patient the attention needed to provide a sanitary, odor free, orderly environment. * Sorts, counts, folds, marks, or carries linens, makes beds. * Performs light housework including cleaning area around patient, bathroom, and kitchen. * Replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies. * Transports trash and waste to disposal area. * Replenishes bathroom supplies. * Completes all assignments scheduled in a timely manner. * Assists with family needs andor post mortem care at time of death. * Performs other duties as assigned. Education andor Experience High school diploma or general education degree; or one to three months related experience andor training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Computer Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Other Qualifications Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends. Must be able to travel. Certifications, Licenses and Registrations A valid driver's license and auto liability insurance. Current CPR certification. Connecticut- Certified Nursing Assistant designation by the CT board of nursing. Maine - Certified Nursing Assistant designation by the ME board of nursing. Massachusetts - Certified Nursing Assistant designation by the MA board of nursing. New Hampshire - LNA certification by NH board of nursing. New Jersey - Certified Homemaker-Home Health Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant designation by the NJ board of nursing. Other Skills and Abilities Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy. Must be able to tend the geriatric and the terminally ill.
