Hiring Agency Cabinet for Health & Family Services | Dept for Behav Health, Dev & Int Disab Location 2400 Russellville Road Hopkinsville, KY 42240 USA Description Are you a safe driver & care about safely transporting individuals? Do you have at least 2 years of experience working in direct contact with individuals with disabilities or providing transportation for individuals with disabilities? If you answered YES, then Western State Hospital (WSH) may be the place for you! With a 168-year history in the Hopkinsville community, WSH is a State acute-care, adult psychiatric facility that provides inpatient psychiatric evaluation and treatment for adults from 34 counties of KY who have severe mental illness. We are seeking a Disabilities Assistance Specialist and Driver to join our team. A COVID19 vaccination is recommended for this position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Transports clinical and psychiatric patients with and without physical disabilities. * Transports discharged patients to various locations. * Process through appointment work orders. * CPR and basic first aid certified for emergency situations as needed. * Secure and transport patient belongings, medical records and prescription medications. * Maintain transportation logs, maintenance schedules, and ensuring vehicles are serviced and cleaned. • Other duties as assigned. Skills and Expectations include, but are not limited to: * Safe driving record with valid driver's license. * Ability to work independently and efficiently. * Good time management. * Attention to detail. * Excellent communication skills. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience working in direct contact with individuals with disabilities in an agency or facility that provides educational andor rehabilitative services to individuals with disabilities OR two years of experience providing transportation for an agency or facility which serves individuals with disabilities, children or the elderly. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Two additional years of experience in one of the above fields will substitute for the required education. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions Frequent travel is required throughout the state. Must be able to assist individuals with severe disabilities and their belongings into and out of vehicles.
