About the Employer Kit Carson Union Elementary School District serves students in a rural community, east of the city of Hanford in Kings County, California. The campus was built in 1952 on land donated by local dairy farmers, the Giacomazzi family. Since then, Kit Carson School has served as the hub of the community for multiple generations of families. Its boundaries span about 72 square miles, even crossing the Tulare County line. The District's vast service comes from the union of multiple smaller school districts: Eureka School District (est. 1874), as well as Mid Valley School District, which itself was formed in 1945 from Willow Grove, Kings and Cross Creek School Districts. In 2010, the Delta View Joint Union School District lapsed into Kit Carson UESD. Kit Carson's district boundary was extended to include what was once Delta View Joint Union School District. The single school site now houses four schools, Kit Carson Elementary, Mid Valley Alternative Charter Home school, Kit Carson Preschool (Operated by the Kings County Department of Education) and Kings Valley Academy II, an independent charter first authorized in 2015, which serves high school aged students in Kings County.
