Summary: Performs various hospital food services duties (e.g., prepares food, assembles, delivers, and retrieves patient trays, washes dishes; sets up, operates cash register and serves customers) under minimal supervision. Answers phones and greets and assists patient in selection of regular and modified diets. Provides the highest quality of service and respect to others at all times. Minimum Education: a. Proven ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions, and perform basic mathematical functions Minimum Work Experience: a. Must possess knowledge of and be in compliance with local, state, and federal food handling regulations (i.e., HAACP). b. Demonstrates a helpful and pleasant behavior when communicating with visitors, hospital personnel, physicians and co-workers. c. Ability to answer telephones and use computer and related office equipment. d. Ability to operate a cash register. e. Ability to prepare and assemble food. Required Skills and Knowledge: a. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information. b. Ability to reviews meal selections for diet compliance and assists patients in alternative selections to meet diet guidelines which includes carbohydrate counting, renal enhances, etc. c. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision d. Able to work effectively under pressure and meet established department goals and objectives. e. Maintains the highest level of quality customer relations orientation. Continually seeks to exceed the customer's expectations f. Maintains professional demeanor and integrity at all times. g. Ability to be active and on feet most of the day, lift, push, and pull light to medium weight objects; occasionally push and pull heavy weight objects. h. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and co-workers. i. Ability to assemble and pass trays. j. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patientscustomers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity. k.
