Operations Lead - 1st Shift City Chambersburg State/Territory Pennsylvania Work Schedule Apply Now ( Job Brief Join the Martin's family of employees as an Operations Lead! Summary: The Operations Lead is responsible to coordinate activities of workers engaged in the production and packaging of extraordinarily quality bread and rolls while adhering to the Production Team's top commitments of Personal Safety and Food Safety. This individual is a person of integrity & respect that leads and directs the employees through open and honest dialogue and constructive feedback. The Operations Lead should also be a proactive thinker, embracing a mindset of thorough planning & continuous improvement Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. · Lives and promotes Martin's culture commitments of: a person of Integrity & Respect, a Communicator on a Unified Team, Contributes to a Culture of extraordinary quality & customer service, a Proactive Thinker and an Ambassador for Martin's, as well as the Bakery Priorities of Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality & Productivity. · Plans flow of materials through department according to work orders. Ensures materials needed for production are available and staged. · Reviews and monitors production work orders to ascertain type and quantity of product and other packaging requirements. · Inspects, measures, and takes samples of product to verify conformance to food safety and quality specifications. · Assists workers in solving technical problems including troubleshooting equipment issues, set up of equipment, and changeovers. · Communicates substandard product to leadership and coordinates disposition of product. · Ensures completion of safety, food safety, quality and production records. · Effectively communicates mechanical issues and coordinates repair work with general maintenance. · Adjusts' recipes to sustain product quality. · Ensures housekeeping expectations are maintained. · Assists in the training of new employees. · Identifies training opportunities for existing employee's and coordinates the training with leadership. · Communicates any employee relations issues observed to Operations Supervisor. · Conducts daily huddle meetings which includes reviewing the bakery priorities. · Monitors production order to ascertain type and quantity of product and other packaging requirements. · Manages inventory through transactions in the warehouse management system. · Performs responsibilities of Dough Prep or Packaging employees as needed. · Ability to work with supporting departments based on business needs. · Enforces and adheres to safety, food safety (including Good Manufacturing Practices), and quality regulations. · Reports food safety concerns to personnel with authority to initiate action. Supervisory Responsibilities: Assigns and directs the work of dough prep and packaging employees. Administers policies and procedures fairly and consistently. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: · High School Diploma or GED; · One to Three years' related experience and/or training · Ability to successfully pass Food Safety HACCP training and competency test. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Ability to learn and understand bakery analytics information including key performance indicators (KPIs). · Ability to identify and prioritize issues, generate solutions and use relevant information to drive decisions. · Proficient in Microsoft Suites products including Outlook, Excel, Word and SharePoint. · Ability to learn bakery systems, including Apex, reporting tools, etc. · Travel up to 5%. Leadership Skills: Ability to influence and motivate others to embrace initiatives and pursue organizational development. Language and Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, as well as, the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customer, clients and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear and smell. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
