The Facilities Project Manager and Designer will assist in the strategic and design aspects of collections, public, and employee spaces in all of our Libraries and managed spaces. You will report to the Director of Library Facilities and work within theLibrary Facilities department ( , which consists of six members. We oversee 800,000 square feet of space in four primary buildings. The Library Facilities department evolves regularly to respond to the needs of the campus and support the mission of the Library by taking on new tasks, improving and adapting workflows, and engaging in both maintenance and responsive design for spaces. As part of theLibrary Facilities team ( , you will assist in addressing maintenance needs and support the Director of Library Facilities in coordinating infrastructure projects in Library managed spaces. The Facilities department works collaboratively with Library and campus departments on needs related to space management and building or room-level maintenance. What You'll Do Design and Project Management Assist in developing and executing Library-wide workflows and processes to strategically invest in our physical spaces, including staff, programmed, and open study areas. Collaborate with library employees to create spatial workflows, draft layouts, and designs for offices and workspaces; including picking finishes and purchasing furniture based on user decisions, library priorities and scope, and university guidelines. With some supervision, plan and execute space management, programming, and design projects for public and employee spaces; including assessment after project completion. Coordinate large department relocations including developing floorplans, meeting with departments to review and scope layouts, furniture and accessory purchases and installation, and associated demolition or infrastructure changes (electrical, etc.) Manage comprehensive project plans including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and cost estimates, and work within the allocated budget. Engage with different partners such as our building members and University partners, including Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) professionals like architects, engineers, interior designers, and construction trades. Maintain building floor plans (digital and print,) print directories, informational and directional signage, and guides to assist Library users and employees in navigating our campus-wide facilities. Departmental Procedures Assist the Director of Library Facilities in coordinating various projects, including as-needed or ongoing maintenance. Chair or participate in library or campus committees relevant to work responsibilities or professional interests, such as library wayfinding, room reservations, etc. Facilities Maintenance Call work orders into the Facilities Service Center when necessary and follow up on work requests with the Region Maintenance, Architecture, Engineering and Construction, Building Services, Construction Services and customer to ensure their completion. Three or more years of demonstrated experience managing renovation projects ranging in scale from small to large through all phases of programming to assessment. Experience managing construction schedules and design-related budgets. Experience participating in or planning in space analysis or strategic planning related to facilities. Experience with space design and furniture purchasing. Experience using drafting and 3D software such as AutoCAD and Rhino 3D.
