South Bronx United Inc. (SBU) is a sports-based youth development organization that uses soccer as a tool for social change. Its mission is to prepare youth to succeed in high school, college, careers, their community and beyond. SBU serves more than 1,700 young people annually through programming on the field and in the classroom, including academic enrichment and tutoring, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness, immigration legal services, and other individual and family support. South Bronx United is seeking volunteers to serve at the organization's 14th Annual Benefit on the evening of Thursday, November 14th at the Prince George Ballroom (15 E 27th St, New York, NY 10016) from 6:30-10 pm. The event is a cocktail-style fundraising event that makes it possible for SBU to sustain and grow its programs. The event includes food and drink, a silent auction, a raffle, and a short program. Time Commitment: Volunteers will assist with the event from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm.Volunteers are expected to stay during the entire event and are invited to help set up/clean up. Set up will be from 12:00 pm- 6:00 pm, while clean-up will be 10:30 pm- 11:30 pm. Primary Responsibilities: Volunteers will assist in various tasks such as: Checking coats Checking in our guests Assisting with our silent auction and raffle Serving Assisting bar staff as barbacks Volunteers will interact directly with our guests, donors and special guests. They are expected to be personable, friendly and helpful throughout the event. Past experience working an event is preferred.
