Family owned and founded in 1961, over the past 10 years Vandalia Rental has grown from a single-store operation with $20M in fleet to nine locations with $150M+ in fleet, sustaining a 24% CAGR. To continue meeting the needs of both a growing business and customer base, we are seeking a dynamic and assertive Director of Asset Management to join our growing team in the equipment rental industry. This role demands a curious, confident leader with a strategic mindset, exceptional problem-solving skills and a systems-based approach to managing our diverse fleet. Key Responsibilities: Leadership: Lead the purchasing and warranty teams. Provide strategic business direction as it pertains to both your areas of expertise, as well as general oversight/planning. Strategic Fleet Management: Oversee and optimize the performance of our rental fleet, ensuring alignment with company goals. Acquire fleet as necessary to support desired growth goals, optimize lifecycle ROI, and support operational efficiencies. Through analysis, identify fleet disposal opportunities to maintain company/district/branch target utilization metrics, fleet age and maintenance expense. Data & Pricing Analysis: Self-perform data queries to analyze fleet performance, identifying trends, efficiencies, and areas for improvement. Conduct comprehensive and ongoing pricing analysis/oversight to ensure competitive rental rates that meet both market and internal ROI goals. Systems-Based Approach: Develop and implement systematic processes for fleet operations, incorporating best practices and innovative solutions. Serve as a liaison between key vendors and operations, recommending fleet considerations that meet customer needs and equipment lifecycle ROI objectives. Salary and Benefits: Annual salary commensurate with experience and qualifications - Starting at $175,000 annually Bonus opportunity $1,138 monthly truck allowance 401(k) - 100% match, up to 6% of your salary with no vesting period Medical, dental, vision insurances $50,000 life and AD&D policy at no cost Paid time off and paid holidays Relocation provided as necessary - Position is based in the Dayton, Ohio area Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field required. MBA, CFA, CPA or relevant advanced designation preferred. Professional Experience: Previous experience as an asset manager, fleet director, accountant, financial analyst, consultant or other asset management role. Proven record of strong analytical skills and the ability to lead/plan strategically is required. Technical Proficiency: Expertise in data query and analysis tools required. Familiarity with Wynne Systems (RentalMan) is a plus. Proficiency with Excel is required. BI Platform (Targit experience a plus) and SQL preferred. Experience with Rouse Analytics software a plus. Knowledge of construction and industrial equipment is preferred. Emotional Intelligence: Strong curiosity, listening, and emotional intelligence. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with diverse teams. Must be willing to learn the rental industry and how Vandalia Rental aligns itself competitively within it to be successful in this role. This will include training in operational positions throughout the company to ensure both operational knowledge and cultural alignment. Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required to support district operations and trade show attendance. Extensive ad hoc travel may be required during special circumstances, such as acquisitions of other companies. Other Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to work in an office environment and be exposed to construction type equipment and environment to include loud noises, oils, fumes, dirt, etc. Must be authorized to work in The United States.
