The Public Engagement (PE) Coordinator is responsible for managing MPL's PE Program, Earning Your Trust, which includes both compliance related activities outlined in MPL's Public Awareness Program (PAP), and supplemental materials designed to reduce the risk of third-party damage and loss of company reputation by enhancing engagement opportunities across MPL's operational footprint. This includes measuring the effectiveness of the program and implementing enhancements to improve the program. There are three PE Coordinators within MPL, who share responsibilities of the program. The PE Coordinators report to the Right of Way and Public Engagement Manager within MPL's Field Services and Planning organization. PE Coordinators interact regularly with Damage Prevention, Right of Way Services, Operations Personnel, Corporate Communications, Legal, Graphic Services, industry groups, external vendors and many others within MPL. This position is part of a progression. Other grade levels may be considered, pending candidate experience. Key Responsibilities Participate in MPL's Process Performance and Planning process to drive continual improvement of the program. This includes compilation and analysis of key performance indicators, stakeholder feedback, incident data, and other performance assessment methods necessary for identifying gaps in current program. Develop and execute various stakeholder engagement plans, based on risk, to ensure that thoughtful engagement is happening with our highest risk stakeholders. Assist in executing of existing stakeholder engagement plans for New Neighbors, Tribal Communities, Farmers and Drain Tilers, Irrigation, City and Municipality Public Works, LA Basin Community and Emergency Responders Execute and support the Public Awareness Program according to guidelines of American Petroleum Institute's (API) Recommended Practice 1162. This includes providing PHMSA and other regulatory inspection support. Execute and support the PE Program to ensure alignment with API RP 1185 for public engagement. Manage the Public Engagement Program budget. Maintain and enhance the external MPL website and Pipeline Finder App. Compile all records and documentation relating to MPL's Public Engagement activities. Participate in industry-led public Engagement/damage prevention efforts (API, CGA, PAPA, PEAG etc.). Assist Area Operations with community involvement and engagement opportunities. Manage the Emergency Preparedness Programs for Schools, Places of Congregation, and Emergency Responders. Plan, coordinate, and implement Safe Digging Month activities, 811 Day events, and other company-wide public engagement events. Oversee the development and execution of company-wide education and communication of the Earning Your Trust program, and expectations for each employee within that program. Education and Experience Minimum of 5 years of public or community engagement, marketing, or corporate communication experience required Oil and Gas experience preferred, but not required College degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or similar field preferred Skills Ability to be collaborative and work well in a team as the job responsibilities are shared among multiple people. Strong continuous improvement and analytical mindset to ensure that Earning Your Trust remains on the leading edge of public engagement across the industry. Ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of stakeholders, accept feedback, and demonstrate a willingness to learn from others Demonstrate creativity, innovation, and ability to develop new ideas. Ability to communicate with a variety of demographics, including landowners, farmers, emergency responders, senior company leadership, vendors, public officials, and youth. Familiarity with data analytics tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Excel preferred.
