We're looking for a Architectural Department Manager in our Cincinnati, Ohio office location who is passionate about steering a collaborative team to success on Life Sciences projects that enable the heart of our clients' business. You'll be accountable for staffing, budget, schedule and technical quality of challenging architectural tasks, as you deliver on our client's expectations, scope, budget and schedule. You'll also provide leadership during startup, coordinating work activities with other design and engineering professionals. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will successfully deliver on the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems and products for building in all phases of a project: Master Planning, Feasibility, Conceptual Design, Design Development, Detailed Design/Construction Documents through Construction Administration and Support. Responsibilities: • Organize, assign, and delegate necessary architectural design tasks to produce construction documents in conjunction with a team of architects and designers • Assist in and/or produce scopes, budgets and schedules for engineering/design proposals. • Coordinate/collaborate with other discipline managers in home offices and throughout the business unit nationally and globally. • Career Planning and Development for your direct reports. • Collaboratively work within the Jacobs Life Sciences network to develop and maintain Work Practices for the Architectural discipline • Work with others as required to incorporate code and safety requirements into designs. • Develop and maintain effective communications with department members, higher management, and with clients. • Maintain staffing levels of appropriate size and experience mix to support ongoing and proposed project work through: Direct hire, contract hire, sharing resources between offices/divisions, international workshare • Bachelor's degree in Architecture • Registered Architect (NCARB preferred) • At least 15 years of progressive architectural design experience • Extensive experience in Life Sciences Industry (Biotech/Pharma, Chemical or similar industries) • Experience managing a diverse team of design professionals, including monitoring and managing work performance and driving professional development • Firm understanding of Architectural deliverables, associated effort hour metrics, change control procedures, and physical progress measurement methods • Must have demonstrated experience in leading the design on a variety of projects sizes and execution approaches Ideally, you'll also have: • Masters Degree in Architecture • Strong communication skills both verbal and written • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary, international teams • Working knowledge of architectural design in 2D/3D modeling software such as REVIT, SmartPlant3D, AutoCAD, or MicroStation • Passion for buildings and construction #LifeSciences, #Bio/Pharma, #EPCMV, #globallifescience Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
