Senior Manager of Accounting Our client, a leading company in the gaming industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Accounting. This role is based in San Mateo, CA, with in-office work required on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and optional in-office work on Monday and Friday. The successful candidate will help build and scale the accounting function to support the company's significant growth. This position offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team and work cross-functionally to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements. Responsibilities: Lead the execution of the month-end close process for the GL Team (e.g., Leases, Fixed Assets, Accruals, Cash & Investments, Prepaids, etc.), including handling account reconciliations, month-end close tasks, and fluctuation analyses. Mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance on accounting issues and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Perform technical accounting research and prepare/review technical memorandums that document issues and conclusions clearly and comprehensively. Lead or participate in special projects, such as system upgrades, process improvements, and new business initiatives. Partner with other departments, including FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and Legal, to support business initiatives and ensure alignment with financial reporting goals. Work closely with external auditors to manage quarterly reviews and the annual audit process. Ensure adherence to SOX controls, including documentation. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience. CPA or equivalent qualification required (can be inactive). 10+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a management capacity; Big 4 public accounting and public company experience are a plus. Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and advanced Excel skills. Proven track record of developing and motivating team members. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex accounting issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey sophisticated financial information to both financial and non-financial partners. Highly organized and detail-oriented with a dedication to accuracy. Extensive experience in establishing and standardizing policies, processes, procedures, and controls that are SOX compliant, using technology and best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy. Compensation: Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $190K - $230K per year.
