We are currently seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic with 5 years experience to join our talented Construction team. If you're looking for great work/ life balance and a company who truly cares for your success you have found the right place As a Sheet Metal Mechanic specializing in new Commercial HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, you will be responsible for plans, lays out, fabrication, assembly, installs, and repairs of sheet metal parts, equipment, and products by performing the following duties and responsibilities. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Required to help promote a safe working environment Required to work well independently and the ability to keep from one (1) to three (3) apprentices productive. May be required to be crew leader, overseeing from three (3) to ten (10) sheet metal mechanics and apprentices. Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products. Selects gauge and type of sheet metal such as galvanized iron, copper, steel, or aluminum, or nonmetallic material such as plastics or fiberglass, according to product specifications. Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts or uses templates. Trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smooths surfaces. Welds, solders, bolts, rivets, screws, clips, caulks, or bonds component parts to assemble products. Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications. Repairs and maintains sheet metal products. Required skillset in duct design, ability to read ductulator to help in calculating proper CFM requirements. Any other duties assigned to him by the supervisor. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures. Education and Certification: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) Minimum of five (5) years of field experience. Has completed an apprenticeship school (ABC) for further education and cross training. Must have the ability to study for and pass states requiring a license. Language Ability: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge of word and excel. Certificates and Licenses: Journeyman License Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory duties will be assigned by the Superintendent or Sheet Metal Foreman Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
