Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for overseeing the Accounting department. Preparing financial reports including annual plan and operating budgets. Ensure complete, accurate, and timely completion of financial and accounting records for the organization. Expectations and Responsibilities Day to day Accounting and Finance Functions - as a working manager 40% General ledger - balancing, reconciliation, fixed assets, accruals, etc. Accounts Payable - ensure all bills are paid on a timely manner and are appropriate for the credit union Month End Processing - journal entries, verification of GLs, variance reporting, investigation, ALM file prep and financial prep and review Year End processing - Including tax preparation for our members and the credit union; 1099s, 1098, 990, 990T, WI-Form 4, etc. Training, Direct and Develop Accounting Team 25% Oversee accounting department and develop the team Financial Analysis and Reporting 20% Regulatory Reporting - call report quarterly, other reporting as needed; submitting CU tax payments - sales & use, corporate tax Budgeting Process - helping with preparation and financial analysis Member of Strategic ALCO Committee - help with deposit rate shops and suggestions for deposit rates, minute taker Audit and Examinations 10% Audits/Exams- be the point of contact for annual Financial Statement audit, accounting contact for State and NCUA exam, ALM validation Strategic Direction 5% Coordinating with other departments - projects, fixed assets, how it affects accounting; member of Strategic Leadership Team Qualifications 5 - 10 years of financial industry accounting experience Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance CPA certification preferred but not required High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting Strong analytical skills for account analysis and forecasting Ability to work independently and with a team with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements Possesses strong organization and time management skills In-depth knowledge of financial statement preparation, journal entries, month-end close, and general ledger accounting If you are looking for a great opportunity to join a growing team, let's talk!
