Lead Machine Learning Engineer

As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer (MLE) at Capital One, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of machine learning applications and systems at scale. This position requires a strong focus on architectural design, code development, and ensuring high availability and performance of machine learning applications. You will also have the opportunity to continuously learn and apply the latest innovations and best practices in machine learning engineering. What you'll do in the role: Design, build, and deliver ML models and components that solve real-world business problems, while collaborating with Product and Data Science teams. Inform ML infrastructure decisions using understanding of modeling techniques and issues. Write and test application code, develop and validate ML models, and automate tests and deployment. Collaborate as part of a cross-functional Agile team to create and enhance software for big data and ML applications. Maintain and monitor models in production, and deploy ML solutions using cloud-based architectures and platforms. Construct optimized data pipelines to feed ML models, and ensure best practices in Responsible and Explainable AI. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree At least 4 years of programming experience with Python, Scala, or Java At least 3 years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing At least 2 years of experience with industry recognized ML frameworks At least 1 year of experience productionizing, monitoring, and maintaining models Preferred Qualifications: Experience building, scaling, and optimizing ML systems Experience with data gathering and preparation for ML models Experience developing performant, resilient, and maintainable code Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Master's or doctoral degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or a similar field Experience with distributed file systems or multi-node database paradigms Capital One is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
