Washington, District of Columbia, United States Democracy Forward seeks a video database and production professional to join the Policy and Public Affairs team as a Video Specialist. Ideal applicants will have the ability to create systems cataloging and become the go-to expert on a wealth of new and existing video assets in order to efficiently deploy them for future content, including in rapid response moments. They will create and manage systems to intake new video assets, as well as advise and support on content capture for in-person and online moments. The Video Specialist should have a strong understanding of how to create compelling short narratives and should be comfortable drafting scripts explaining complicated concepts. A particularly strong candidate for this role will also have the technical skills and strategic perspective to produce, edit, and manage video and motion projects for digital platforms, with an emphasis on optimizing content for Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube. Responsibilities: Provide accountability and ownership for and improve video cataloging systems, and coordinate across the organization to ensure assets are available to be deployed for a variety of uses, including in digital products, for use during live events, and for sharing with stakeholders. Coordinate video asset needs and delivery with external consultants and vendors. Develop, research, and write (in coordination with other team members) video scripts that align messaging guidance with compelling narratives to educate and inspire Democracy Forward's audiences. Edit videos using existing footage, including motion graphics; cut and version-out products for best performance on multiple platforms. Requirements and Qualifications: Experience working in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere or After Effects. Proficiency in Premiere is preferred, but other video editing software will be considered. At least one to three years of professional experience developing video databases or catalogs, including with Google Drive, Pics.io, or other platforms. At least one to three years of professional experience producing or editing videos for political, advocacy, news, or other related organizations. Detail-oriented with an ability to juggle multiple projects for different stakeholders, and flexibility to work across a range of editing styles. Ability to learn complex legal and policy issues and communicate them to a range of audiences. Experience coaching other team members on implementing video best practices, especially in a remote work environment. Nimble and collaborative team-player with a passion for progressive advocacy and advancing democracy. A shared passion for creating change, advocating for democratic norms, and holding leaders accountable for good government.
