The purpose of the Quality Assurance Mechanical Inspector is to both control costs and promote customer satisfaction through verification of any completed product to specification, while adhering to the AS9100D standard Roles and Responsibilities Must perform inspection for quality, appearance and compliance (performance) of end item products Must follow inspection procedures and record data on control forms Must make decisions as to appearance and performance, to compliance specifications per drawings, standards and specification Must present all documents, data and end item products to Government representative/customer Must assess supplier facilities and perform first piece inspections, review shipping data and interpret quality assurance provisions as per contract requirements Responsible for following safety rules and practices Occasionally will be requested to work overtime or to be on-call -- will be rotated through the QA team May be required to conduct inspections at the granite surface table, directly on production line at varying heights, at incoming receiving, at a supplier or customer's site Other duties as assigned by the supervisor Qualifications and Education Requirements High school diploma/GED Minimum of 3-5 years quality/inspection control/manufacturing experience Experience using standard measuring tools such as tapes, scales, micrometers, protractors, radius and fillet gauges, go-no-go gauges, Webster hardness tester, etc. Experience reading and understanding manufacturing drawings, inspection manuals, commercial parts catalogues, military part specification Must be familiar with general manufacturing procedures and best practices Must have good communication skills -- both verbal and written Must work well in a team environment Must be able to consistently demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to think independently Preferred Skills Familiarity with ISO 9001 & AS 9100 is extremely helpful and a PLUS! ASQ certified inspector Working Conditions The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. May be requested to work overtime and weekends as needed. Safety Glasses, Durable pants, and Steel Toe Shoes/Boots are required to be worn at all times. Hearing protection, safety gloves, high visibility vests, and other PPE to be provided on an as needed basis. No loose clothing is permitted on the shop floor. Work involves considerable stooping, bending, walking and standing. The ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly The ability to lift and/or carry equipment/objects greater than 50lbs. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FLSA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting quantitative and/or qualitative productivity standards.
