JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer to join their extraordinary team DOVS has built a world-class reputation for cutting-edge research, compassionate patient care, and hands-on training programs for resident physicians and clinical fellows. We are a collaborative department that puts people first. The Chief Administrative Officer provides administrative leadership and operational expertise for the integration of the clinical, educational, and research programs of the Department. The DOVS has multiple affiliations including UW Health (UWH), UW School of Medicine and Public Health (UW SMPH), the UW Medical Foundation (UWMF), and the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA), each with unique administrative structures, systems and varying rules, regulations, bylaws, and missions. Additionally, the DOVS has a unique link to and responsibility for the UW Health physician group practice. The Clinical Department is organized into sub-specialty divisions of Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Cornea and Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Ocular Pathology, Oculoplastics, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus, Retina, Uveitis, Optometry, and Vision Rehabilitation. The research component of the DOVS encompasses themes in molecular biology, epidemiology, ophthalmic genetics, glaucoma, retina cell biology, ocular oncology, stem cells, cataract, accommodation and presbyopia, ocular imaging and clinical trials. Additionally, the educational enterprise of the DOVS directs the education of undergraduate, graduate and medical students, residents, and postdoctoral research and clinical fellows. The Department also includes the following administrative program areas: Finance, Administration, Communications and Marketing, IT, Development, Research, and Education, located in multiple operational sites including Clinical Science Center, University Station, Wisconsin Reading Center, Clinical Eye Research Unit, Medical Sciences Center, WARF, Waisman Center, as well as numerous clinical and regional services locations.
