Job Description BAE Systems is looking for a Junior Software Engineer. The qualified candidate will work in a rapid development environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers who designs, develops, evaluates, test, verifies, validates, and provides in-service engineering support for the Navy's Aircraft Launch and Recovery system. This position may require travel in support of system product installation, system operation verification and testing, and certification. We are searching for a creative out of the box thinker individual to assist our team moving forward into the future. The selected individual will display knowledge of C programming on Red Hat Linux Enterprise environment. The use of GNU Compiler and Debugger is a must and the selected individual shall demonstrate exceptional techniques in troubleshooting, debugging of codes, and problem-solving skills. The selected individual shall also demonstrate knowledge of modern software design and development as well as modern software configuration management (SCM). The skills and technique in software validation testing, which encompasses unit testing, integration testing and system testing, shall be inherent to the selected individual. They shall possess analytical mindset, the ability to analyze and communicate effectively test results, detect issues and track root causes, apply knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), demonstrate knowledge of quality standards and regulations, have good technical documentation skills, and a team player. The selected candidate shall also possess good systems engineering fundamental skills necessary for the success of every projects we develop for the customer. The successful candidate shall also provide the opportunity to create and develop advanced technology capabilities in the areas of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and quality processes critical to defense work. Specific responsibilities will include thorough understanding of product specifications and requirements, develop software programs and scripts, test cases for all mechanical, electrical, and software systems, work closely with engineers and production team to learn the ins and outs of a product, will run series of software test through all stages of production cycle to identify potential malfunctions and recommended improvements, and finally develop the necessary technical documentations required for the product. The successful candidate will learn to network and collaborate with the rest of the engineering and production team. This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Some relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidate. Applicants must be currently residing in or willing to relocate to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas. Required Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines; Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science major with 3 - 5 years of related software development experience Ability to obtain / maintain the required security clearance Knowledgeable in C Programming using RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.5 and above Must have basic understanding of Software Validation and Testing Must have knowledge of the MIL-STD-498 Requirements for Software Development and Documentation Must have knowledge of GIT Repository for software version control system Ability to learn new skills and tasks Attentive to detail, ability to stay focused on task Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to the problems identified Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent skills in Math, Physics, and Computer Programming essential in developing test vectors Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.) Team player with a proactive attitude, the ability to be productive in a dynamic / collaborative environment (e.g. open seating arrangement) Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Minimum of BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science Strong knowledge of C programming Strong knowledge of RedHat Linux Enterprise Strong knowledge of RedHawk Linux RTOS Strong knowledge of GIT Repository system Some knowledge of the US Navy's Air Traffic Control & Landing Systems Strong knowledge of MATLAB and Python Strong math skills Strong technical documentation skills Strong communication skills Possess secret clearance Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $75570 - $128480 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
