Contractor will help with BAU during the transitioning. Need additional help for the transition. Transition will take a whole year. % Interaction with Stakeholders: A fair amount of internal stakeholder interaction Project Scope: BAU Team Size: About 7. Part of a larger payroll group- 15 to 20 people. Personality Style/Team Culture: Must be able to work in a fast paced environment. Can be a demanding role. Selling Points of Position: A lot of opportunity to learn different functions. Best Vs Average Candidate: Payroll/ tax/ accounting Payroll role but - not time card side. Not on the operations side. However, if they have experience in payroll operations that would be an asset. Any payroll/general ledger/ AP is helpful More technology the better - payroll systems ADP, work day , people soft. Financial accounting systems. Be comfortable with technology. A lot of systems are used. Very fast paced. Working in a silo. Looking for someone with large company experience (Multi-State)! How will performance be measured: Deliverables and verbal feedback SUMMARY OF DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES: Some variety in the day- dealing with state and local income tax registration, filings, agency notice's for credits due. Funding of payroll General ledger Account reconciliations. MUST HAVE: 1.) Preferably one payroll software systems (ideally Workday). ADP, UKG, Ceridian would also be great. 2.) Accounting Systems experience 3.) Fast paced environment 4.) Adapt quickly - changing priorities 5.) Experience with payroll, accounting, taxes NICE TO HAVE 1.) Workday 2.) Peoplesoft 3.) Alteryx 4) Experience with Garnishments - would be nice to have 5) Prior experience working HRIS team 6) Working w/ Governance teams "The Accountant II performs a variety of accounting functions for an assigned line(s) of business, and/or specializes in a particular accounting area(s) with technical accounting knowledge to give detailed and informed accounting opinions of assigned business activities. Responsible for the capital adequacy reporting (BASEL) and Stress Testing ensuring the data flowing through systems is accurate and fit for use and performs data cleansing via Web Interface Supplementary Process (WISP) in which data errors or inaccurate values are remediated for Capital Reporting Leads activities of unit, assigning, prioritizing, monitoring work and mentoring new staff; Provides direction and answers questions as needed Participates in the development of overall department operating policies and procedures by communicating new or unique situations and solutions developed Trains accounting and management personnel in assigned business lines in proper day-to-day accounting responsibilities and procedures, developing an accounting perspective and learning how to observe and recognize accounting issues and problems Reviews monthly financial activity and ensures transactions are appropriately recorded in proper accounts, such as cost capitalizing vs. expensing and monthly closing. Researches discrepancies and makes corrections and updates as necessary Provides ongoing, proactive, specialized accounting advice and counsel to assigned lines of business to ensure clients are operating efficiently under applicable accounting rules and regulations Recognizes, identifies and investigates client accounting issues that need attention and offers accounting opinions based on research and knowledge and resolves problems Ensures client activities are in compliance with Company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations Ensures monthly recording of income, expense and other financial transactions is accurate and timely Considers and explains risk management issues prior to implementation, such as determining how the accounting of new initiatives will be monitored and controlled; Coordinates revisions to accounting policy manual for policies within areas of expertise Performs a variety of research and analysis after the monthly financial closing, including determining business line results, calculating profitability, researching variances, investigating transaction types and appropriateness and other analyses Reviews account reconciliations, ensuring that the process is efficient, technically sound and complete and in compliance with applicable accounting guidelines and regulations; Ensures that reconciliations are done properly, including complex areas such as accounting requirements for mortgage servicing rights and determining loan income over the life of a volatile asset such as a loan subject to prepayment Analyzes accounting treatment of various transactions to ensure proper recording, including complex activities such as purchase accounting and amortization schedules for acquisitions Requires limited supervision, ability to interact with clients on a wide range of topics Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking. Ability to work independently and manage ones time. Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed. Ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses. Knowledge of federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting. Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and any other related accounting software. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related financial discipline required. An advanced degree in a financial discipline is preferred. 2-4 years financial and/or accounting experience required."
