Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) is hiring Electronics Hardware Design Engineer in our R&D Industrial and Rotating Machinery (IRME) group. In this role, you will be designing analog and digital hardware for protection relay products such as differential relays, transformer relays and industrial protection systems. You will collaborate with a team of engineers to create development plans for projects, design analog and digital electronic circuits, and interact with other discipline teams to deliver world-class products for use in critical infrastructure. As a Lead Electronics Hardware Engineer a typical day might include the following: Analyzing, designing, and developing conventional analog and digital circuits. Conducting moderate to complex design reviews to demonstrate product and circuit robustness. Developing hardware specifications and prepares system level specifications. Writing and analyzing test plans, executing tests and evaluating test results for use at peer design reviews and project notebooks. Preparing and maintaining product documentation, including data sheets, instruction manuals, project notebooks, design, and test documentation. Providing and maintaining accurate project plans. Managing and/or leading hardware projects of moderate complexity. Coordinating engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing. This job might be for you if: You have a B.S./ M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. You have 5+ years of combined experience in at least 2 of the following areas: - Analog circuit design , analysis, and simulation. Digital circuit design, embedded hardware design, mixed signal circuit design, and power supply design. - Data acquisition and mixed system design - Microprocessors and FPGA system design - Ethernet and fiber optic communications interface design - Switching Power supply design - Digital design with emphasis on Programmable Logic including: - VHDL/Verilog - Working knowledge of Xilinx/Altera/Micro Semi Tools - Simulation, Timing, Analysis, and Synthesis - Electromagnetic compatibility and standards compliance experience is a plus - Hands on experience with prototyping is a plus - PCB layout experience is a plus Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of one or more of the following: Analog electronics Industrial controls design Digital and mixed signal electronics design Industrial controls 3-phase and electric power systems Electric utility telecommunications Leadership experience or training Location Information Pullman, WA - SEL's corporate office is located in Eastern Washington where you'll enjoy an unmatched quality of life. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. The salary range may differ in other locations based on cost of labor.
