The Motor Vehicles Professionals (MVP) Program is a starting point for an exciting career with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) at the Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV). It is a unique opportunity to be a part of an important mission and gain exposure to various exciting initiatives, operations, management and leadership at NCDOT/DMV. Through this 18-month full-time, paid program, you will gain exposure to a variety of opportunities in the various fields of discipline and work within NCDMV. As you progress through this structured program, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in the various units that comprise the scope of the DMV which include Business Services, Commissioner's Office, Customer Compliance, Driver Services, License and Theft, Training and Development, Safety and Vehicle Services. The program is designed for highly motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to NCDMV's operations including administrative, business and public relations. This MVP Administrative Specialist I Trainee will be assigned to the Vehicle Services Unit. They will be learning to provide customer service to the public in all areas of vehicle registration and will be developing the technical skills to process customer requests using the STARS program. They will also be trained to exam title, registration, and identification documents to detect fraudulent, altered, or suspicious items and accept payment for services rendered while observing proper cash handling. This position inspects title and registration documents to ensure they are executed in the manner stated in the General Statutes and that fees are collected or adjusted according to the same statutes. In addition, training will include researching and responding to transactions such as cancellation of title records, address changes, requests for certified records, real estate/mobile home cancellations and various general inquiries and correspondence. Please Note: As an entry level professional at the NCDOT/DMV, MVP Administrative Specialists I Trainee are offered a starting salary of $36,682 and are eligible to receive salary adjustments with satisfactory work evaluations. Upon completion of the program, MVP Administrative Specialists may be eligible to transfer into an Administrative Specialist I position at $50,438. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies The following are the minimum requirements to be eligible for the Motor Vehicles Professionals Program: Experience in computer and Mainframe databases. Demonstrated ability to proficiently use correct grammar, spelling, and vocabulary to compose/proofread correspondence. Demonstrated ability to interpret and explain policies, procedures, and laws. Management Preferences: • Experience in reviewing detailed documents and records for accuracy and authenticity. •Experience with recording, compiling, summarizing, analyzing data. •Experience balancing a cash drawer.
