New Jersey Institute for Disabilities, (NJID) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our Nonprofit Agency. The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing the accounting operations of NJID, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations as promulgated by GAAP and other funding sources, mainly DOE, DDD and Medicaid. Prepare the annual budget and biannual financial projections including, Payroll, Operating expenses and Revenue supporting schedules for internal and funding sources (DOE, DDD and County). Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets. Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits. Oversee accounts payable, receivable and payroll functions. Ensure tax compliance, prepare annual tax return 990 Supervise, provide training and support to the accounting staff. Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Controller The professional we seek must possess the following: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or CPA or CMA certification preferred Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in diversified industries, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role with nonprofit experience preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite including strong use and reliance on excel and Pivot tables Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
