As a Senior Accountant, you will directly contribute to this mission through financial stewardship and operational excellence. What You'll Do: Assist the Associate Director of Finance with recruiting and onboarding accounting staff. Supervise, coach, and mentor accounting team members. Conduct periodic reviews of internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with grant and audit requirements. Communicate and enforce financial deadlines with internal teams, ensuring timely delivery of reports and information. Review and approve weekly accounts payable transactions, ensuring proper coding and allocation of expenses. Approve payments, positive pay (checks and ACH), transfers, and wires as appropriate. Oversee the preparation and approval of annual 1099 forms. Manage and deposit checks for the organization and its affiliated entities. Record property management fees, pledges receivable, in-kind donations, and stock contributions. Record grant/contract reimbursement requests and intercompany billings. Reconcile balance sheet accounts, prepare work papers, and resolve discrepancies. Maintain and reconcile schedules for accrued and prepaid expenses. Record payroll accruals and reconcile Form 941 to general ledger accounts. Perform payroll reconciliation by department. Maintain recurring month-end journal entries and memorized transactions. Lead process improvement projects as assigned. Participate in financial audits and perform other special projects as directed by the Associate Director of Finance. What You'll Bring to Us: Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks while maintaining focus and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across teams and vendors. Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle confidential matters discreetly. Commitment to continuous improvement, with an ability to identify and implement process enhancements. Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience required. Supervisory experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (VLookup and Pivot Tables).
