Summary of role We are seeking a Principal SAP ABAP Developer to support our SAP S4Hana Private Cloud Rise platform. The Principal SAP ABAP Developer is a part of the SAP Solutions team and is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the SAP S/4 HANA cloud solutions by providing production and project technical support. This role will analyze, design, code, deliver, and sustain solutions that support the strategic objectives and vision of the business and maximize the benefit of the investments. Further, the role will be to develop and lead the technical aspects of the S/4 HANA Cloud solutions, which includes ensuring appropriate and effective data integration across multiple applications. Experience in the life sciences industry sector is preferable. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions Categorize/Group Responsibilities: Develop technical solutions and support IT BA's and internal departments of the organization. Responsible for the technical analysis, design, development, maintenance, and testing of development items within the SAP S/4 HANA / SAP BTP system. Troubleshoot, Debug, and resolve Break-fixes. Organize and manage the technical development phases of large-scale projects and deliver quality releases on schedule. Provide technical guidance and expertise to fellow team members throughout the application lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment phases. Evaluate and stay apprised of new solutions/tools in SAP's roadmap, investigate new techniques, and understand emerging features. Create reusable components in the S/4 HANA / SAP BTP system. Partner with teams (business, IT, vendors) to define, implement, and maintain solutions that enhance and automate business processes. Assist with integrating third-party and custom-built boundary systems with the S/4 HANA / SAP BTP system for master and transactional data exchanges to automate business processes and build transparent and effective error handling and processing around them. Develop and support integrating multiple systems with the existing application ecosystem. Oversee and participate in the configuration, customization, and development activities to ensure that the technical aspects follow SAP's S/4 HANA development best practices and standards. Develop, build, and deploy applications using SAP's S/4 HANA / SAP BTP development methodologies, platforms, and technologies. Collaborate with IT Business Analysts, Solution Architect, and others to define/clarify business requirements and provide configuration and development recommendations and estimations for new or enhanced functionality to facilitate process improvement. Maintain development practices (e.g., technical design, solution development, systems configuration, writing code, QA control etc.). Provide direction for architecture, design, build, and support activities required for S/4 HANA / SAP BTP. Provide technical specifications for development requests to contracted developers and assign accordingly to those resources. Maintain relevant functional and technical support documentation that adheres to established standards to ensure streamlined support and knowledge transfer within areas of responsibility. Collaborate with external vendors (SAP, System Integrators, and other third-party teams) during enterprise application design, configuration, testing, deployment, and support. Actively participate in project activities as required and assigned by providing a broad level of technical expertise and business knowledge in assigned functional areas. Coordinate execution of tasks in assigned functional areas. Design and develop test plans and document test cases for executing unit, integration, system, regression, and acceptance testing to ensure the solution meets the business requirements during implementations, service pack installations, or upgrades. Provide on-call support as needed. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or relevant field is required. 5+ years of experience developing within SAP's S/4 HANA ERP system. 5+ years of experience as a SAP ABAP, CDS, Cloud Integration (CPI), UI5/Fiori developer. 7+ years of experience with SAP's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. Solid understanding of SAP development concepts, guidelines, and SAP architecture. Experience developing reports, forms, interface, BAPI's, user exists and enhancements. Experience creating and modifying CDS views. Experience with analysis tools like Run time analysis, SQL Trace, code inspector and SAP ABAP Test Cockpit to check the quality of the ABAP code and optimize for SAP HANA. Strong technical and functional design skills and experience creating repeatable processes to support future growth with minimal customization requirements. Experience designing and supporting integrations between enterprise applications and knowledge of data mapping tools and procedures. Experience working with 3rd party vendors for support issues. Experience translating functional specifications into technical specifications. Ability to communicate clearly in various communication settings and styles and in terms that are understandable at all levels in technical and user-friendly language. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
