COMPANY PROFILE: Padgett Business Services of NW Ohio is a tax, payroll, accounting, and business advisory firm that has served the greater Toledo area for over 30 years. We specialize in helping small businesses make more money while reducing their tax liabilities. We are looking to expand our team over the next few years and we're looking for a motivated, hardworking, and dedicated Tax Intern to help us manage our workflow to achieve the growth. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Tax Intern role is responsible for learning and applying their technical skills and working as part of a team carrying out tasks under close coaching and supervision. REPORTS TO/ACCOUNTABILITY: Shelly Croninger, EA SUMMARY OF PRIMARY DUTIES: Develops an understanding of the business and the Intern role. Develops technical skills on the job. Works as an effective team member to complete project components and assignment tasks. Builds working relationships with colleagues and clients. Seeks to gain knowledge of client businesses. As a member of the team, implements solutions for clients. Progress through tasks in a timely and organized manner. Assists in research gathering as requested. Build on knowledge acquired in college to gain a functional level of technical and operational knowledge to proficiently perform assigned tasks Prepare assigned tax returns including individual, corporate, partnership and/or non-profit returns Prepare assigned basic amended returns, personal tax projections, sales tax, 1099 statements and/or payroll tax returns Prepare and maintain financial data and records for assigned clients Utilize and develop a functional understanding of various tax programs, tax and research software, and internal workflow/procedures Effectively document work Accurately report and release billable and non-billable time consistently and understand its importance Provide assistance including tax research to managers and owners as needed Meet productivity standards Ambassador to the Universities. A general and growing knowledge of firm services Working toward Degree qualification CLIMATE: Given the nature of our business, some early morning and evening hours will be required as well as some weekend hours. At times we work with short deadlines that need to be met and this at times creates stress and tension that needs to be managed. We are a family-oriented business that understands family/work life balance issues and works to service our clients the way we want to be serviced. We work together as a team and strive for amazing results. We have many team members fully remote, some partially remote, and a few in office staff. The successful candidate should be comfortable in that environment and be able to excel within it.
