For further information about Key Risk please visit Responsibilities Solicits, writes and retains profitable PEO accounts that require an in-depth underwriting analysis and sound judgment. Markets Key Risk specialty products and services to the agents and participates in agency management process. Underwrites new and renewal PEO accounts to sub-limits in personal authorities that require referral. Underwrites within delegated authorities that are specific to the Underwriter level. Contributes to containing underwriting expenses within budget. Assists Director of Underwriting with research and development projects as requested. Key Functions will include but not be limited to: Underwriting and Pricing Business, within delegated authority level and company guidelines Underwrites accounts that fall within Key Risk's underwriting appetite. Documents analyses and decisions with adequate detail using the Key Risk documentation tools. Takes the initiative to recommend any improvements in underwriting principles, techniques or appetite when they become apparent. Achieves planned premium, rate change and loss ratio goals. Marketing insurance products through agent contacts to achieve company growth and profitability targets. Participates with Area Vice President or Director of Underwriting in agency and account visits to explain products and services and present quotes. Contributes to agency evaluations, goal settings and development plans. Assists other areas of the company with the acquisition and servicing of our policyholders. Promote the public image of Key Risk Consistently conducts business in a professional, punctual and courteous manner. Quarterbacks the client service management process for assigned accounts. Promotes Key Risk effectively in public forums. Client Relationships Promote exceptional service by identifying interaction opportunities, taking ownership of client results, providing high quality service, managing response times, using judgment and building from both the small and large successes. Enhance communications by being proactive, engaging in active listening, asking questions to determine underlying needs, and stopping and analyzing the situation; learn from problems and implement preventative measures for the future. Know and exceed client expectations; get to know our clients, understand situations from the client's perspective, and deliver solutions specific to the client's needs. Create a team approach by leveraging the culture of trust and openness and taking responsibility for keeping the team informed and closing the loop. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Professional Development - (Education on-going educational requirements, continuing education, staff development, etc.) Actively involved in developing or sustaining personal job skills Professional and Working Relationships: (To whom and how frequent does this position have contact with employers, vendors, etc.) External: Agents, insureds, lending institutions and insurance rating organizations as necessary, to give and receive information, to market business, and to make presentations to promote company business and image. Internal: Claims Professionals, Client Service Executives, Risk Management Specialists, Marketing Representatives, IT staff, Policyholder Services Representatives, Premium Auditors, other Underwriters, and other functional areas as needed to give and receive information or to provide instruction and solve problems. May participate on or lead ad hoc project teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, enhance the book of business, etc. Qualifications BA/BS Degree CPCU, CIC, or AU designation preferred 3-5 years of PEO underwriting experience within a PEO or insurance carrier. Strong understanding of current PEO industry trends and markets. BS/BA degree or equivalent required and active student working on CPCU, CIC, or AIU designation preferred. Three or more years of Workers Compensation underwriting or underwriting service work experience. Some knowledge and exposure to all commercial lines' products. Strong understanding of Workers Compensation coverage and the range of possible operations, hazards and hazard controls for the PEO industry. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to transact straightforward negotiations.
