Cost Estimator Job Description and Functions Cost Estimator is responsible for all aspects of quoting new and existing business. Develop complete tooling and fabrication cost estimates based on the specifications provided. Assist customers in defining design for manufacturing ability problems. Gather all necessary information from the customer to provide a complete and accurate scope of work description at new product introduction (NPI) meetings. Provide technical and other engineering assistance in a timely fashion to various departments as needed. Present and negotiate quotes with customers and the sales team to help secure new business awards. Receive and convert customer Solidworks CAD files. Solicit component and raw material cost from suppliers. Analyze blueprints, electronic and technical data specifications that will influence cost. Ability to interface with customers during technical discussions to ensure successful bidding Maintain records in paper and electronic format in alignment with company procedures.
