Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW: The Community and Government Relations team sits within Marketing and Communications at the GBH Educational Foundation. Responsible for managing the community engagement strategy and execution, and government relations functions that help raise awareness of our work; deepen engagement with local communities; and grow and inspire audiences. JOB OVERVIEW: The Community and Government Relations Intern will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Their responsibilities vary but often include event planning and execution, research, writing and outreach to external collaborators, including local, state and federal offices, and colleges and universities. The program also incorporates opportunities for professional and personal growth through networking, resume reviews and interviewing. The Intern will also help launch our first database platform to capture our engagement and support our outreach for all our partners. Interns are supervised by a full-time staff member on their team, in addition to having the support of our CR/GR Specialist. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the execution of Community Relations projects, events, and activities. Data maintenance and cleaning to ensure files and engagement are updated and maintained. Oversee the maintenance of the department's community relations and government relations contact lists, and other key departmental organizational documents. Prepare upcoming materials for programs/events in advance of events. Schedule highlights for external publication. Including photos, highlights, and distribution to marketing team. Provide research, proofreading, and other project-specific activities Other duties as assigned. SKILLSET: Excellent communication skills, exceptionally written, are essential. Strong candidates will possess strong organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to foster productive relationships with colleagues, balanced with being self-directed and working independently Must be a thorough, detail-oriented individual and very effective in managing multiple projects, responding to various requests, and prioritizing and meeting deadlines. The candidate must be willing to handle administrative tasks, be flexible, and work within a team-oriented environment to support the overall goals of the department and GBH. Familiarity with Boston and New England media important. Candidates should have a keen interest in community relations and/or government relations. Superior proofreading skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media. Some experience with Dynamics is helpful. JOB-STATUS: Paid Internship $17/hour (Part-time) INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW: Candidates must be available for in-person community events 5 days a week, including occasional Saturdays. GBH internships provide students with valuable work experience and real-world knowledge across many different fields of study, from TV, events and radio production to web design, and other administrative areas. INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: Internship Dates: January 27th to April 18th Candidates must have their own computer and access to Wi-Fi.
