Outreach Coordinator Apply now ( Job No: 24321 Department: College Forest Resources & Envr Sci Work Type: Staff - Full Time Location: Main Campus (Houghton, MI) Full Time / Part Time: Full Time Categories: Marketing/Communications, Forestry Summary The College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science at Michigan Tech is looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to work with College leadership in the area of outreach. This outreach will include outreach to prospective students, outreach to employers of our students and graduates, and outreach to alumni. Responsibilities Work with University Marketing and Communications (UMC) to promote the College's brand to diverse audiences that include prospective students, employers, and alumni. Work with UMC to maintain a strong web and social media presence through updates to College webpages, and postings to College and College leadership social media accounts including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter). Coordinate with College leadership to develop print newsletters and email updates to alumni and friends of the College. Work with the university admissions office, College leadership, and other offices on campus to develop and implement a data-driven outreach program to new and current applicants to our programs, including through social media and other communication channels. This should include utilizing students as ambassadors of our programs, programs that bring prospective students to campus (such as Summer Youth Programs), and processes for staying in contact with teachers and prospective students through all available media. Oversee the development of articulation agreements with community colleges in collaboration with other College staff. Oversee the College campus visit program for prospective students in collaboration with the recruiting office. Visit high schools within the Upper Great Lakes region to build strategic alliances with teachers and administrators that share information about programs in the College. Communicate branded information to high schools and regional recruiters. Partner with alumni relations to organize events to enhance the experiences of Michigan Tech alumni during alumni weekend. Organize events off campus that bring together alumni with faculty, staff, and leadership of the College. Organize annual awards processes that recognize the contributions of alumni to the College. Organize an annual natural resources career fair, provide outreach to employers of our students and graduates, and serve as liaison to University-wide career services and activities. Organize events that provide outreach to College stakeholders, including social events that bring these stakeholders together in an informal setting. Serve as liaison to food services at the University. Serve on College and University committees as appropriate. Integrate safety practices into daily activities. Other duties as assigned. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures Bachelor's degree in natural resources, communications, web design, or related and/or comparable work experience. Required Experience â— Experience with brand management and execution; writing, editing, and proofreading text for print and web, preferably in a higher education setting. â— Demonstrated experience with social media sites, strategies, and messaging. â— Experience with personal computers and software packages including advanced features of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, social media, online chat, and computer-based contact management systems. â— Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations. â— Experience dealing with confidential information. Desirable Education and/or Experience â— Experience working in undergraduate admissions, higher education student services, or closely related areas. â— Experience working with high school students in a marketing/recruiting capacity. â— Demonstrated experience with personal, academic, professional and/or leadership development of students. â— Experience developing social media, photography, and video strategies to meet organizational communication goals. â— Experience in using and interpreting web standards (browsers, accessibility, validity). â— Experience using the OU Campus System. â— Experience working independently with limited supervision. Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities â— Demonstrated success in designing and providing recruitment programs to attract students. â— Experience producing web-based communication campaigns, marketing materials, or large-scale publications, preferably in higher education settings. â— Demonstrated ability to create and implement strategic plans based on university's mission and vision. â— Proactive and creative approach to problem-solving. â— Demonstrated ability to utilize current marketing and enrollment management strategies, database management, and current technologies. â— Demonstrated knowledge of admissions computing and research technology. • Demonstrated success in, or potential future contributions to, working with persons from diverse backgrounds, creating a sense of belonging, and fostering a fair, objective, welcoming place to work for persons with a wide variety of personal characteristics and viewpoints.
