As the Housing Assistant Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting the housing needs of immigrants and refugees as they transition into their new communities. This position involves collaborating with the Housing team to ensure safe, affordable, and suitable housing options for clients. The Assistant Housing Coordinator will assist in outreach to housing providers, collaborate with the resettlement team, and facilitate communication between clients and landlords. Essential Responsibilities: Provides housing support for newly-arrived refugees: Assist in the identification and securing of housing options for clients, including apartments, shared housing, and temporary accommodations. Clearly articulate clients' housing needs, preferences, and challenges to landlords to promote understanding and collaboration. Develop and maintain positive relationships with landlords and property managers to facilitate access to housing for clients. Maintain up-to-date records of housing availability and client needs. Conduct home safety inspections to ensure housing meets safety and quality standards. Collaborate with community organizations, landlords, and service providers to create a supportive housing network. Participate in housing workshops and informational sessions for clients and landlords. Assist in tracking and reporting housing outcomes and client satisfaction. Provides additional support services to refugees: Advocate on behalf of clients with landlords to resolve any issues related to tenancy, ensuring a supportive housing experience. Support clients in navigating the housing application process and provide guidance on tenant rights and responsibilities. Document all client related activities in electronic client file; including the Free Housing Sheet Submit Check Request for Deposit & Rent, Coordinate signing Lease Agreements, and obtaining keys Assist with housing set-ups and other needs as time allows. Follow up with any identified housing issues, including utility set ups, maintenance, etc. Performing other assigned duties as necessary for the successful operation of the organization. Knowledge, Skills, & Ability Requirements: Ability to assess and resolve client complaints and conflicts; Knowledge of community resources; Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor; Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced multi-priority environment; Excellent planning and organizing skills; ability to anticipate outcomes; Proficient MS Office skills (Word, Excel and Outlook); Ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity; Ability to be administratively self-supportive and work hands-on with own initiative to accomplish objectives; Ability to effectively plan work activities, schedules, priorities and utilization of resources; Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of various teams and committees; Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels; Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities. Fluency in a language spoken by the current refugee population is strongly preferred (Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Kinyarwanda, Swahili, Nepali, Amharic, Tigrinya, or Somali); Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and clean driving record with access to reliable vehicle; Willingness to obtain a Missouri Chauffeur license Minimum Education & Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience in related discipline; Experience in real estate, social services or related field preferred.
